What's a good movie based on a game?
The XBOX 360 Gears of War is currently the most popular shooter in the world, and the Gears of War series has become another major signature of Microsoft after Halo. A few days ago, New Line Cinema has obtained the authorization of Microsoft and EPIC, and will start to plan the filming of the Gears of War movie version, and invited the famous screenwriter Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean series of screenwriters) to write the script in person. It is expected that this movie will come out in the summer of 2009. This movie will take the story background of Gears of War and look at the world of Gears of War from another perspective. A movie adaptation of the Gears of War game is still a good fit, but it's tough to do it in a way that will both please gamers and get box office.
Gears of War
The original Gears of War sold an impressive 1.67 million units in the U.S., and with the U.S. debut of Gears of War II for the PS2, it looked like a new wave of hardcore action games was about to take off in America. However, it seems that the producers of this game do not intend to stop there, and recently came the news that "God of War" will plan to start filming a movie version. God of War's storyline would be perfect for a movie, but the game is so good that a movie wouldn't really work. And the casting of God of War is also a problem. According to the producer, the person he thinks to play the main character, Quintus, is black Hollywood movie star Djimon Hughes. I'm sure this will leave many gamers dissatisfied. Still, we're hoping that the God of War movie will be even more appealing than the game.
Prince of Persia
Ubisoft's cross-platform action game, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, is considered to be the most surprising dark-horse game in the gaming world in 2003. Not only was it voted the best action game of the year by every major gaming media in the world, but also the AIAS awards took eight in one fell swoop, making it arguably the biggest winner of the AIAS games of the time. A few years later, Hollywood began to pay attention to this game. Industry insiders blogged that "Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer are co-producing a movie based on Ubisoft's hit game Prince of Persia, which will be released in the summer of 2008." The movie adaptation of the game will reportedly follow the development path of Pirates of the Caribbean, so is it something to look forward to?
'Alloy Gear'
Konami has officially revealed that it is planning to make a movie of the same name based on the infiltration action game "Metal Gear Solid". The development of the movie version of Alloy Gear is being handled by a studio under Sony Pictures Entertainment Co. Filming is already underway. Alloy Gear is originally a very distinctive cinematic game, and the game itself is actually a cinematic narrative. But the filming team still needs to work on how to bring the image of Snake that gamers are looking forward to on the movie screen.
'Onimusha'
Following game-to-movie adaptations such as BIO and Silent Hill, Hollywood's next cinematic target will be CAPCOM's Onimusha. The movie version of Onimusha is expected to start shooting in 2007, and the filming will take place not in Japan but in China. Although we don't know who the lead actor will be yet, I believe that those who have played the Onimusha series already have the best candidate in mind. I'm looking forward to the movie.
Ghostbusters
CAPCOM's "Ghostbusters" series of games have been praised by gamers for their variety of action and smooth operation. News of a Ghostbusters movie came out in 2005, and it was rumored that the production budget would be more than $40 million. But then there has been no news, last year, foreign websites finally released "Ghostbusters" movie version of a few stills. From the stills, the character modeling is still quite satisfactory.
Resident Evil
Resident Evil: Extinction is the 3rd installment of the Resident Evil franchise based on the game of the same name, and this is also the last installment of the movie trilogy. The previous movies were huge box office successes. This movie is a continuation of the original cast, with the protagonist "Alice" being played by fan favorite Milla Jovovich. In this movie, Milla Jovovich will be more wild and sexy, with hot pants and pantyhose plus a low-cut dress and denim trench coat, which perfectly shows Milla Jovovich's proud figure as a famous model.
"Killer 47"
Killer 47's name can be said to represent one of the most violent characters in the history of the game, which will also be brought to the movie screen. Hollywood stars will also be joining the movie. The script for the movie "Killer 47", written by renowned Hollywood screenwriter Skip Woods, has recently been cleared by the movie's distributor 20th Century Fox. The movie is being produced by French producer Luc Besson (producer of The Fifth Element), and the original creator of the Killer 47 series will also supervise the production of the screenplay as well as the filming of the movie. Killer 47" can be said to be a super luxury star cast, in the end out of the film is not good, we can only wait and see.
