Origin of Doughnut
Youliang (油条) should be the innovation of deep-fried noodle food after the Southern Song Dynasty. According to the Song History, during the Song Dynasty, Qin Hui persecuted Yue Fei, and the people expressed their anger by deep-frying a kind of noodle food similar to deep-fried doughnuts (deep-fried hinoki). The origin of similar deep-fried noodle dishes is much earlier than the Song Dynasty and can be traced back to before the Tang Dynasty, the exact period of which cannot be verified.
