Where does the leaf weaving in Chenzi Village come from?

Ye Zhi of Chenzi Village comes from Lisu people in Dechang County, Sichuan Province.

Deep in the mountains, there is fire and grass everywhere. In the long-term production and life, the industrious and intelligent Lisu ancestors invented the fire grass weaving technique very early and passed it down from generation to generation in this nation. Lisu people's self-woven cloth, commonly known as "fire grass cloth", is to tear off the film on the back of the leaves of fire grass collected on the hillside, peel off the skin of hemp stalks, twist them into threads respectively, and then weave them into cloth with a weaving frame.

The weaving skills of Lisu people in Dechang are very unique. When knitting, there are two shuttles, one is fire grass thread and the other is hemp thread, and then the two are intertwined. The whole production process has to go through more than 20 processing links such as picking, tearing, cutting, baking, pouring, soaking, sorting, bleaching, winding and weaving, and each process is completed by them.

The weaving technology of Huoxiabu is the same as that of hand-woven cloth, but the difference is that the materials used for weaving are different. Mixed spinning into cloth, made into women's wear, men's underwear and satchel.

The weaving technology of fire grass is the artistic crystallization formed by Lisu people in Dechang in their long-term working life. It is a treasure of traditional culture and folk skills, an important part of Lisu culture, and has certain historical value.
