What does information economics mainly study?
From a macro point of view, information economy is an information industry economy, which has the characteristics of knowledge, planning, integrity, interconnection, urgency, globalization, digitalization and virtualization. From the microscopic point of view, the information economy is also an information product economy with the characteristics of comprehensiveness, intensification, high added value, high technology and sustainability. Generally speaking, information economy is an economy based on information technology, composed of information industry and characterized by strengthening the role of information activities.
With the continuous development and improvement of the discipline, the research of information economics will continue to deepen and focus on the following seven aspects.
First, study the structure and development law of information industry and information market. It includes not only a direct empirical study of changing occupation and employment patterns, information industry and information technology, but also a more general theoretical analysis of changes in economic infrastructure and long-term social development. The information economy measurement paradigm established by Polat measures the scale of information economy with two indicators: the proportion of information industry output value to GMP and the proportion of information industry workers to all workers, which provides a set of operable methods for the research of information economics in industrial structure. However, this paradigm needs to be improved in the current new economic situation, which is the research to be improved in information economics.
Second, the research on the economic cost of information. Information cost includes information production cost, information dissemination cost and information acquisition cost in the process of market transaction. In different environments, information costs will have different forms and characteristics, which is also information economics.
The focus of the study.
Third, the problem of information commodities. Taking information as a factor of production, this paper investigates its characteristics, functions, parts and their functions on the economic system, and mainly explores the objective laws of the value generation, transfer and consumption of information commodities and the economic benefits of information relations, as well as various economic relations and objective laws reflected by society in the process of information production, exchange and consumption. This paper studies information system activities and information system management from the perspective of economics, as well as economic activities related to the whole process of production, distribution, circulation and consumption of information commodities. At present, the distinction between information goods and material goods is still controversial. Tangible material goods are the object basis of traditional economics research, so the scope of information economy has different definitions.
Fourth, the analysis of information economy. First of all, whether the classical framework is applicable to the economic analysis of information has always been controversial. Although the revised neoclassical theory contains information phenomena in some fields, such as the concepts of "search" and "signal" in production theory, market behavior and technological change, it lacks systematic organization and research and emphasizes professional knowledge. The economic analysis under this method needs further empirical work. Secondly, the role of information in the system, including in the enterprise system and market environment, has always been considered as an analytical theme that may make up for the defects of neoclassical theory. This topic focuses on revealing a special type of incomplete information-the essence of decision-making under uncertainty, trying to make decision-makers have the ability to deal with information under uncertainty; And the characteristics and laws of economic activities and economic behaviors under the conditions of incomplete information and asymmetric information.
Fifth, the relationship between information economics and other disciplines. Information economics not only inherits the basic principles of economics, but also innovates modern information value analysis methods. It is an interdisciplinary subject of economics and informatics. Information economics is an important branch of economic theory, which describes and reveals the economic congestion patterns corresponding to different social development stages. It involves the comprehensive research of economy, information, management, computer and other disciplines. Therefore, a deep understanding of the similarities and differences between them will help to better tap the useful and valuable things in the information economy for modern society.
Sixth, the research of applied information economics. With the rapid development of information technology and people's awareness of information economy, China's information economy is developing rapidly. Many information service industries consciously or unconsciously use the theoretical results of information economics to guide their practical activities, which also promotes the research of information economics to be applied and practical, such as pricing principles and strategies of information goods, management and policies in the development of information service industry, regional platforms in information service, information technology and its supporting role in the development of information service industry.
Seventh, the saving and utilization of information resources. Information resources are the foundation of information economics. Whether information resources can produce economic benefits and how much economic benefits they can produce are related to the planning, organization, use and coordination of information books. Because information resources are as scarce as other social resources, it is difficult to meet the unlimited needs of human beings. Therefore, information economics is to study how to use and distribute scarce social information resources to organize production, how to distribute social information commodities to members of society for consumption, and how to make information resources become the fuel and driving force for economic growth. Although the allocation of information resources depends on government coordination and related information policies to a certain extent, studying how to determine the optimal information system and choose the information system with the greatest value to decision makers will help solve the problem of effective utilization of information resources, grasp the law of economic operation and achieve greater results in reform and development.
The competition in today's world is the competition of comprehensive national strength with high technology as the guide, innovation as the soul and economy as the foundation. In the coming 2 1 century, with the continuous improvement of people's understanding of information economy, the construction of national information port and the promotion of information industry, and the gradual transition of human society from industrial society to information society, information will become an inseparable basic economic resource of human society. Therefore, the research of information economics plays a decisive role in the development of economic congestion, and the basic theoretical system of information economics will be enriched and improved with the deepening of research. Although information technology is still immature in this century, I believe its prospect is optimistic.
