Unique customs in China:
1. Hebei
Throwing sad hats: Throwing sad hats is always done in the dead of night on New Year's Eve. Before going to bed, adults and children in every household quietly throw old hats or headscarves on their heads into the street.
2. Jiangsu
The custom of "playing the god drum" during the Spring Festival. Opening the way from the big flag, the drummers beat drums all over to add fun. On the third day, they played night drums, on the seventh day, and on the thirteenth to fifteenth day, they played bare-chested drums. The atmosphere was warm.
3. Zhejiang
Go to the mountains to sweep graves on the first day of the New Year's Day. In the eyes of most people, going to the temple to burn incense and sweep the grave is what Tomb-Sweeping Day did. But in some parts of Wenzhou, the Spring Festival is the time to sweep graves. Sweeping graves on the first day of the New Year has the meaning of "inviting ancestors to celebrate the New Year together".
4. Shaanxi
The custom of Spring Festival is to make thimbles. Shaanxi people will use thimbles for needlework as mascots, which means increasing the age. During the Spring Festival, people will wear thimbles with red silk thread and hang them around their children's necks to show their blessings.
5. Jiangxi
Changing tea means "changing money", which means that everyone will get rich. Wrap the cake with thick wool paper and a layer of white paper, and stick a piece of red paper on it, and send it back and forth.
6. Fujian
There is no tradition of eating jiaozi in Fujian during the New Year, but they all eat rice cakes. Because rice cakes are homophonic "year high", eating rice cakes during the Spring Festival means that everything goes well every year. The styles of rice cakes are square yellow and white rice cakes, which symbolize gold and silver and express the meaning of making a fortune in the New Year.
