Channel classification standard

Legal analysis: the first-class waterway can reach 3000 tons, the second-class waterway can reach 2000 tons, and the third-class waterway can reach 1000 tons. The minimum standard of the third-class waterway is 3.2 meters deep and 45 meters wide at the bottom. The fourth-class waterway can be navigable for 500 tons, and the minimum standard of the fourth-class waterway scale is 2.5 meters deep and 40 meters wide at the bottom.

In order to facilitate the management and maintenance of inland waterway, many countries in the world have formulated waterway (or navigation) standards, classified waterways, and unified waterway scale, so that the waterway is coordinated with ship types, fleets, navigation structure and river-crossing buildings in scale and position. The dimensions of inland waterway include water depth, width and bending radius, and the minimum value is given in the standard.

Compared with roads and railways, inland waterway construction costs are lower, and natural water resources can be utilized, but it is not as convenient as roads and railways, and is limited by the distribution of inland rivers. Modern inland waterway is developing to a unified standard deep-water waterway.

A passage in inland waters, such as rivers and lakes, used for the safe navigation of transport ships of a specific size. Some inland waterways use natural rivers or lakes, while others are artificial canals.

Legal basis: Article 6 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Waterway Law includes national waterway planning, river basin waterway planning, regional waterway planning and waterway planning of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government.

Waterway planning should include the functional orientation, planning objectives, technical level of development planning, planning implementation steps and safeguard measures of the waterway.

Waterway planning should conform to the comprehensive river basin and regional planning formulated according to law, conform to the water resources planning, flood control planning and marine functional zoning, and be coordinated with the related professional planning, urban and rural planning, environmental protection planning and other related planning and military facilities protection zoning formulated according to law.
