Jining University is a provincial full-time undergraduate institution of higher learning, located in Qufu, a world famous historical and cultural city, the birthplace of Confucian culture, the hometown of Confucius and the holy city of the East. The school can be traced back to 195 1 which was founded by tengxian District Cadre Culture Tutorial School, formerly known as Jining Teachers College, and was upgraded to jining university with the approval of the Ministry of Education in March 2007. In 2008 10, qufu normal School, a century-old prestigious school founded in 1905, was incorporated.

At present, there are 22407 full-time college students. The school has 18 teaching units, 50 undergraduate majors and 23 specialist majors, covering 9 disciplines such as economy, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management and art. Focusing on the cultivation of applied talents, the school actively adapts to the needs of industry and regional economic and social development, adjusts and optimizes the professional structure, and forms a discipline system with outstanding advantages in teacher education and distinctive characteristics in applied disciplines.

The school actively connects with the "Top Ten" industries in Shandong Province, strategic emerging industries and traditional advantageous industries in Jining City, and has built 1 1 high-level applied majors (groups) in chemical engineering, electromechanical, information, finance, biology, materials and normal education, among which chemical engineering and technology, mechanical design and manufacturing and their automation, and bioengineering are high-level in Shandong Province.
