What are the characteristics of grasshoppers?

Grasshoppers are the general names of insects belonging to Insecta, Orthoptera, Acridoidea and Acridoidea. There are more than 5000 kinds of locusts in the world.

Grasshoppers are green or yellow-brown, and their adults are 80 ~ 100 mm long. The males are smaller and the females are larger, with reddish longitudinal stripes on their backs. The antenna is short and has obvious compound eyes at the base. Chewing mouthparts are a typical dominant species with wide distribution and phytophagy. Developed hind feet, good at jumping. When flying, they can make a "firm" sound. If you hold it with your hands, your hind feet can jump up and down. The medial rib line, lateral rib line and abdominal edge of the anterior chest backboard are reddish. The front wing is green or hay-colored, with reddish stripes along the elbow vein, or the midvein has dark brown longitudinal stripes, and the rear wing is light green. Nymphs are similar to adults. Eggs are lumps. Many species can not only jump, but also fly. Under their narrow and thick front wings, there are a pair of wide and thin rear wings. When the grasshopper flies, it lifts its front wing and beats its back wing. However, they jump with their hind feet instead of flying with their wings.
