China's top 10 charities

China has no shortage of rich people and charitable organizations that can do good deeds, but there seems to be a slight disconnect between the two, which should be closely linked. We have documented the status of the top 10 charities in China, calling on people, especially those who are wealthy, to pay attention to and support China's charitable causes. ...... is one of the largest and best-performing public welfare organizations in China. Since its establishment in April 1994 under the advocacy of Cui Naifu, the old minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the General Association has been carrying forward the humanitarian spirit, carrying forward the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation of helping the poor and needy, helping the unfortunate individuals and groups in difficulty in society, and carrying out a wide range of social assistance work.

According to the constitution of the General Association, the highest authority of the General Association of Charities is the General Assembly of the members, five years per sector, the Council is the executive body of the General Assembly of the members, which meets once a year. The General Association of funding from membership fees, donations, government grants, interest, income from activities or services within the approved scope of business and other legitimate income, administrative funding from the value-added portion of the founding fund, membership fees, special donations for administrative expenses, government grants, interest on donations, and income from the establishment of entities, and so on. In accordance with national regulations, a certain percentage of donations is withdrawn as project management funds. The China Charity Federation*** has 108 organization members and cooperates with most of them in a variety of charitable projects. According to a 2002 study, the Federation has received a total of RMB 980 million in direct donations in the seven years since its establishment, of which RMB 540 million has been donated to charity and RMB 440 million has been donated to charity***. Some data show that there are 60 million disabled people in China, and these people are the object of the China Disabled Persons' Federation's service.

Established on March 15, 1988, the CDPF is a unified national organization for persons with disabilities recognized by national law and approved by the State Council, with its National Congress as its supreme governing body. Under it are the Presidium, the Executive Council, the Deliberation Committee, specialized associations and various local organizations.  The statute of FDPD stipulates that it is funded by five sources: donations from all sectors of society (domestic and foreign organizations and individuals), government funding, international cooperation projects, income generation and other income. According to the Federation's internal statistics, the main source of funding is still the declaration made by the Federation, followed by the allocation of special earmarked funds by the relevant State ministries and commissions. When it was established in March 1989, the China Poverty Alleviation Fund was a foundation without a fund. At that time, the staff of the Foundation had no experience in poverty alleviation work in the private sector. Through many contacts, the Foundation tried to win the understanding and support of people from all walks of life at home and abroad for the cause of poverty alleviation, and mobilized people from all walks of life to actively join the ranks of poverty alleviation.

1996-1999 was the second stage of CFPA's development. At this stage, the Foundation mainly adopted the work mode of poverty alleviation and developmental poverty alleviation, and implemented projects such as "Self-reliance Project for Poor Farmers", "Poverty Alleviation through Science and Technology", "Aid for Construction of Educational and Medical Facilities", and so on. These programs have been implemented in the form of "self-reliance projects for poor farmers", "scientific and technological poverty alleviation" and "assistance in the construction of educational and medical facilities".  From the second half of 1999, CFPA entered the third stage of development. This year also marked the beginning of the second decade of CFPA's work, which is based on helping the disadvantaged groups in poor communities to improve their production, living and health conditions, and to enhance their qualities and abilities, so as to realize poverty alleviation and prosperity through project assistance and the participation of the recipients. The China Women's Development Foundation is a national non-profit social organization approved by the Central People's Bank and registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, which raises funds and materials from domestic and foreign enterprises and institutions, social organizations and individuals with the aim of comprehensively improving the quality of women, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of women, and promoting the creation of a good environment for women's development in society.

The highest authority of the Foundation is the Board of Directors, which consists of the President, Vice-President, Executive Director, Secretary General and Directors. The Council is appointed for a term of three years and meets once a year, or in other forms in special circumstances.  The sources of the Women's Foundation Fund are, firstly, donations from enterprises, social organizations and individuals at home and abroad who are enthusiastic about the cause of women; secondly, income from value-added funds and services permitted by the state policy; and thirdly, interest and other lawful incomes. The value-added portion of the fund must be used within the scope of the fund's mission, and the fund must be used legally in accordance with the purposes and objects agreed upon with donors and sponsors. In 1992, at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a special award of 100,000 US dollars was given as a bonus to Prof. Qu Geping, the first Director General of the State Environmental Protection Administration, for his contribution to environmental protection. This money later became the foundation fund for the establishment of the China Environmental Protection Fund (CEPF), China's first private foundation with independent legal personality and non-profit status specializing in environmental protection.  In April 1993, the Environmental Protection Fund was formally established, and its purpose is to promote the development of China's environmental protection management, scientific research, human resources training and international cooperation through the funding and rewarding of individuals and organizations that contribute to China's environmental protection cause. The foundation's fund comes from three main sources: donations from enterprises, institutions and groups at home and abroad that are enthusiastic about the cause of environmental protection; donations from other organizations and individuals; and donations from domestic and foreign organizations and friendly people.

The highest authority of the foundation is the council. The council has a standing chairman, vice chairman of several, a secretary general, executive director and a number of directors. The Council employs a number of famous people at home and abroad as honorary chairmen. Among the ten national charitable organizations, Soong Ching Ling Foundation is the only one named after a national leader.

On May 29, 1981, Soong Ching Ling, Honorary President of the People's Republic of China*** and the State of China, passed away, and one year later, on the first anniversary of her death, the Soong Ching Ling Foundation was established. After the establishment of the Foundation, its objectives were centered on the six words "peace, unification and future", namely, to maintain world peace, promote the unification of the motherland and pay attention to the future of the nation.  In terms of organization, the Foundation has a Board of Directors and a Standing Council. In terms of leadership, the foundation has an honorary chairman, chairman and vice-chairman, who are democratically elected by the council; the secretary-general is the legal representative of the foundation. As the most directional foundation, the China Foundation for Courageous Service was established in June 1993 by the Ministry of Public Security, the Central Propaganda Department, the Central Committee for Comprehensive Governance, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Central Committee of the League of Nations and other ministries and commissions jointly initiated the establishment of the Foundation. After the establishment, the association with the relevant provinces and municipalities organized a large number of recognition activities, raised more than 70 million yuan of justice and bravery fund, the distribution of incentives and pensions, subsidies and scholarships of more than 20 million yuan.

Management organizations at all levels have raised funds amounting to more than one billion yuan. The Association was launched in April 1994 to coordinate with the "National Poverty Alleviation Program of 1987". Liu Yonghao as the representative of 10 private entrepreneurs in the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce in the second meeting of the seventh Standing Committee of the joint initiative "let us devote to poverty alleviation of the Guangcai cause," and then in the *** Central United Front Work Department, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (China Civil Chamber of Commerce) under the initiation of the establishment of the Association for the promotion. She is the organizing body of the Guangcai cause, is registered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the State non-profit associations and legal persons, enjoying the United Nations Economic and Social Council special consultative status. She to the majority of non-publicly owned economy and private enterprises as the main participant, including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas business people *** with the participation.
