Are there any musical rules for blues guitar riffs?
The blues is one of the more difficult parts of the guitar to master, and what's really hard about it is the rhythm. Shaver rhythm, also known as swing rhythm, you look up and practice, BLUES rhythm, you should know the 3 consecutive tones, give you a 2/4, and then a bar of two 3 consecutive tones, when you play it, you only play out the 1, 3, 5 beats, this is the rhythm of BLUES, it seems lazy.
Recommend you watch Joey's Heavy Metal Guitar 1,Chapter 3 and then sight-read FROM THE HEART.
