How to build a home network

As we all know, home networking is an economical and convenient choice, which not only facilitates the exchange of data, but also greatly reduces the investment of PC in the later period. According to the characteristics of wired home network, we propose the following two construction methods.

Two computers:

If there are only two computers in a family, direct cable connection is usually adopted. There are several kinds of cables, one is twisted pair; The other is parallel cable; There is also a serial cable.

Nowadays, twisted pair is mostly used, which requires the following equipment:

Two Ethernet cards, preferably the current mainstream 10/ 100 Mbps fast Ethernet card;

. There are more than five types of twisted pair after jumper (1-3, 2-6 jumper method), but the longest distance is 100m. When purchasing the equipment, the network cable connecting the broadband terminal equipment has been provided.

Hardware settings:

Using "cable direct connection", the distance between the two machines should not be too far, generally limited to one room, because the cable length is limited and too long is inconvenient. Next, insert both ends of the serial/parallel line into the serial/parallel ports of two machines respectively, which is a key step. Please refer to the following figure:

Software settings:

Step 1: Select one as the host, and then click Start → Programs → Accessories → Communication → Direct Cable Connection in Windows. The Setup Wizard will pop up and select the host option button.

Step 2: The computer will automatically detect the available parallel ports and serial ports, select the required ports, and then follow the prompts.

Step 3: Repeat the above steps on the client, paying attention to selecting the client button in the setup wizard. In this way, the connection between the two computers can be completed. When you need a connection to transfer data, please follow the following steps:

(1): Open Start → Programs → Accessories → Communication → Direct Connection in the host, and click Listen.

(2) On the client, open Start → Programs → Accessories → Communication → Direct Wired Connection and click Connect.

In this way, two computers can access the folders enjoyed by * * * and transmit data.

What should I do if I need to change the relationship between the host and the passenger plane? At this time, it needs to be reset. As usual, click Run Start → Programs → Accessories → Communication → Direct Cable on the host or client, click Change button, and the Direct Cable wizard will pop up, and then redefine the relationship between the host and guests with reference to the previous setup process.

Precautions:

In fact, this is not a "network" in the strict sense, but because it does not need to buy new equipment, it can achieve the maximum benefit with the least money, and it is the most economical and convenient way to connect two computers. However, this method also has some shortcomings, such as the need to frequently reset the relationship between subject and object when two computers visit each other, and the slow data transmission rate, which is only suitable for games where two computers exchange data or simply connect.

Finally, take the computer directly connected with broadband equipment as the gateway (or proxy) server, install the corresponding gateway (or proxy) server software, such as Sygate, Wingate, etc., and then configure it accordingly to realize the gateway or proxy broadband enjoyment.

Three computers:

The above is the way to connect devices without using the network. To realize broadband access, it is best to connect corresponding broadband terminal equipment, such as ADSL Modem of ADSL and Cable Modem of CM. At present, the two mainstream modems are both Ethernet interfaces, so they also need a network card connection, so it is necessary to install an additional network card on one of the computers.

In this configuration, there are usually many specific schemes. Here we break down two main schemes. One is to realize the interconnection of three computers through a network card without any hub equipment, that is, without hubs and switches. Another scheme that we will mention later.

The equipment required for the former scheme is as follows:
