Are there any examples where economic laws don't work? -Xue Zhaofeng's notes on economics.
In the first class, the teacher asked a question: Are there any examples in this world where economic laws don't work?
My first reaction is that no one's world economic laws are not good, nor are children's world economic laws.
However, I also saw someone answer in the message at the back, "Has anyone done anything that violates economic laws?"
In real life, many people have done things that violate economic laws, but they have failed, lost money and screwed up things, but this is just an example of economic laws at work.
In a week of questions and answers. Teacher Xue gave the answer:
Where there are no people, economic laws will not work. I don't think even people exist, so of course there will be no economic organization, right? Will the remaining animals conform to the economic law? It is hard to say that some economic laws may be consistent, but not all economic laws can work.
In a society with unlimited material wealth, economic laws are not feasible, and I think this may be true. Do you remember the story we told in the prison camp? There are all kinds of economic organizations in the prison camp. On the day of their liberation, the day of the arrival of the allied forces, and the day of the influx of materials, all carefully maintained economic organizations suddenly collapsed and were no longer needed. Therefore, in a society with great material wealth, people may not need to abide by any economic laws. The question is, will such a society really come? I don't think we will see this day in the foreseeable future.
Others say that in the children's world, is there a society where economic laws don't work? In my opinion, children are really disobedient to economic laws, so they often suffer losses, so they can't take care of themselves. There is a big difference between people and animals, that is, animals can stand on their own feet soon. Basically, they can stand on their own feet at birth, but people can't. They didn't start to stand on their own feet until after their teens. Until then, they must be taken care of to survive. They are highly irrational, so it is really doubtful how much economic laws can play in their world. But you can't say that there is no economic law in the children's world.
If you are a parent with children, you may remember the first word that children learn to go home after you send them to the nursery. In America, it is said that the first three words children learn are: more, my, no, what do you mean? More means "I want more". What do you mean "I want more"? This is the law of demand; What do you mean by mine? This is "mine". What do you mean "mine"? This is the protection of property rights; No means "no". What do you mean "no"? This is about freedom and independence. You see, it's hard to say that there are no economic laws in the children's world.
During the Q&A process, Mr. Xue also mentioned that there is no standard answer to his question. This is also the reason why I appreciate this course most.
Grow up. We are really tortured by standard answers, and we are unconsciously bound in various frames.
I expect to learn real economic thinking in this course, not a series of dogmatism.
