Synopsis of the Little Monsters Series of Fairy Tales

The book is about three little monsters, Archie, Kaki and Sanky, who live in a restaurant, a barbershop and a candy store respectively. In traditional Western fairy tales, gargoyles and goblins are a favorite image among children. Some of them live in the forests and mountains, while others live in homes. They have magical powers and human nature. With the help of this feature, the author molded them into three young children's image, they can be invisible, can fly, can be illusory to become a demon, but also has the innocence of young children, childish, very kind, very cute.

Showing these stories in the real life that children are familiar with makes them more favorite. The series has been published since 1979 and has been reprinted many times and sold a huge 4 million copies, which also shows how popular it is with young readers.

Author's words--Eiko Kadono

Let me tell you about my monsters.

They all have cute names: Archie, Kaki, and Sanki.

Goblins are here, there, and everywhere.

They're all looking forward to being good friends with you.

Usually, you can't see them, but if you pay attention, you can find them. If you don't believe me, look:

Archie is there, making hamburgers;

Kaki is here, giving the barber a hand;

Sanky is there, singing a song.

These little goblins will bring you joy, make friends with them!

In the future, I will write you many, many more stories.

I hope you will like Archie, Kaki, and Sangie.

(Note: Archie, Kaki, and Sanki are phonetic translations of the pronouns here and there in Japanese)
