What words or phrases have been "washed white" by modern people?
I am a Chinese learner. In my understanding, many ancient words have completely different meanings in modern times. For example, bragging used to mean extravagance or nonsense. Now used to refer to speaking loudly. In ancient times, they congratulated each other on the success of something. Modern times have become, the bad guys are happy together. Collusion was a compliment in ancient times, which made them like-minded and close to each other. Modernity has become derogatory, and the bad guys are in cahoots. These are all washed away by modern people.
