About Chibi

Su Shi's Red Cliff Fu and Nian Nu Jiao are about Wen Chibi, not the ancient battlefield in the Three Kingdoms period.

There is a saying in Hubei that Wu Wen Chibi is located in Huangzhou, which is famous for Su Dongpo's Niannujiao Cliff Fu. Wu Chibi, located in chibi city (formerly Puyin), is a famous site of Chibi War during the Three Kingdoms period. Wen Chibi is located outside Hanchuan Gate in the northwest of Huangzhou, the ancient city, with Yuping Mountain, Wang Longshan and Jubaoshan in the northeast and the Yangtze River in the southwest. Su Shi, a famous writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, once wrote "Red Cliff Fu" here, which has been praised for hundreds of years and named it "Dongpo Chibi" or "Wenchibi". Tourists are amazed at the scenic spots here, and its preciousness lies in the dazzling array of calligraphy and painting inscriptions left by poets and writers of past dynasties. Su Dongpo's inscription "Sticking to Su Yuan Jing" is a rare treasure in Su Shi's calligraphy works, which is called "the treasure of the country". Calligraphy critics think that it can be compared with Wang Xizhi's Preface to the Lanting Pavilion and Yan Zhenqing's Sacrifice to a Nephew, and it is praised as "the third running script in the world" by the world. Su Shi's cursive "Niannujiao" is embedded in the fairy pavilion. "Red Cliff Nostalgia" is vigorous in brushwork, like a storm, flying around, which complements its bold style. There are also stone carvings inscribed by Su Shi in the stele pavilion, which have been praised by calligraphy connoisseurs in past dynasties. There are two paintings by Su Shi: one is a plum blossom and the other is a birthday girl, both of which are embedded in the Broken Immortal Pavilion. The Moon Plum Map consists of a half-sickle crescent moon and an old plum. Laomei is leafy, leafy, and leaves early, revealing a new machine in sadness. The picture of "Shouxing", which is composed of the words "virtue, longevity, temple and treasure", was made in April of the second year of Shaosheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1095), and is said to be the earliest cartoon of characters seen in China so far. In addition to Su Shi's calligraphy and painting inscriptions, Dongpo Laomei painted by Guo Fengyi in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty is also extremely precious.

Wu Chibi is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River, 36 kilometers northwest of chibi city, facing the Wulin across the river. Land water flows into the Yangtze River from the east. Wu Chibi is a famous ancient battlefield. In the 13th year of Jian 'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (2008), Liu Bei and Sun Quan joined forces to defeat Cao Cao here. This is the famous Battle of Red Cliffs in history. Chibi site consists of three hills: Chibi Mountain, Nanping Mountain and Jinluan Mountain. These three hills are connected by ups and downs, green as the sea, and pavilions are scattered among them, making the scenery more beautiful. Its main attractions are Cliff of Chibi, Baifengtai, Feng Chu Temple and Yijiang Pavilion. On the south bank of Chibi Mountain, the rocks are inclined more than 300 meters, and the rocks are rugged. The raging river rushed straight to the cliff, rolling up thousands of accumulated snow, and the sound was like a huge thunder. Since ancient times, literati and poets have come here to pay their respects, so they have left a lot of calligraphy. On the cliff with the head of a chicken in Chibi, there are two characters "Chibi" in regular script, and there are stone carvings of portraits of Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei nearby. Yue Bai Terrace at the top of Nanping Mountain is said to be the site of Seven Star Terrace when Zhuge Liang offered sacrifices to the east wind. Feng Chu Temple on the mountainside during the Golden Jubilee, it is said that Pang Tong once lived in seclusion here. The original buddhist nun was abandoned a long time ago, and now it is rebuilt in the 26th year of Qing Daoguang (1846), with blue bricks and black tiles, simple and elegant. The statue of Pang Tong enshrined in the main building of buddhist nun is solemn and resolute, awe-inspiring and inviolable. The temple is surrounded by green moss, secluded winding paths, old trees hanging curtains and flowers singing, which really has the artistic conception of "more secluded in the mountains" A pavilion on the top of Chibi Mountain is said to be the place where Zhuge Liang and Zhou Yu watched Cao Ying in the Battle of Red Cliffs. This pavilion was built for future generations.
