What fuel do planes generally use?

Aircraft generally use aviation fuel, which is divided into two categories: aviation gasoline and aviation kerosene. Aviation gasoline is used as fuel for piston aircraft engines. Since the jet fuel commonly produced and widely used at home and abroad is mostly kerosene, it is usually called aviation kerosene.

Aviation fuel is usually delivered by tanker trucks to parked aircraft or helicopters. But some airports have gas stations, and planes need to taxi to the gas stations to refuel. Some large airports have underground oil pipes connected to each berth, and aircraft only need to be refueled through pump trucks.

On the 2nd, the Civil Aviation Administration of China issued a project approval letter for the No. 1 bio-jet fuel technical standards to Sinopec, which marks that the domestically produced No. 0 bio-jet fuel has officially received airworthiness approval and can be put into commercial use. China has become the fourth country after the United States, France, and Finland to have independent research and development and production technology for bio-aviation fuel.

No. 1 bio-jet fuel has gone through an airworthiness certification process that lasted more than two years. On February 5, 2011, Sinopec officially submitted an application for bio-jet fuel airworthiness certification to the Civil Aviation Administration of China. On February 28, 2012, the application was accepted. The Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Department has established a review team composed of experts from the No. 1 Bio-Jet Fuel Airworthiness Certification Committee and the Aviation Fuel and Aviation Chemical Airworthiness Certification Center, including experts in airworthiness, engines, petroleum refining and aviation fuel.

The review team formulated technical standards with Chinese characteristics that are no lower than international technical standards. During the two-year period, the process review, product physical and chemical properties, specific performance tests and production quality system review of bio-jet fuel were carried out, and engine bench verification and flight test verification were conducted, and the review report was finally approved by voting.
