Couplets are a unique form of literature in China. The book "The Artful Couplet" let me enjoy the wonders of Chinese writing in more than 100 wonderful stories of couplets. I would like to tell you a few of my favorite couplets. Once, Emperor Qianlong gave Ji Xiaolan a couplet: "Two plates of beans". Ji Xiaolan answered: one ou oil. I didn't expect Qianlong to change his mind and say: I'm talking about two butterfly buckets. Ji Xiaolan ha couplets are a unique form of literature in China. The book Coincidental Couplets allowed me to appreciate the wonders of Chinese writing in more than 100 fascinating stories of couplets.

Tell me a few of my favorite couplets--

On one occasion, Emperor Qianlong came up with a couplet for Ji Xiaolan to answer, "Two plates of beans." Ji Xiaolan replied in faith: "One ou oil." Unexpectedly, Qianlong changed his words and said, "I said two butterfly buckets." Ji Xiaolan laughed, also changed his mouth: "I said a gull swim ah!" This is called a harmonic union.

There is a family door posted a pair of couplets: "the family has ten thousand gold is not rich, knee five sons without children." What does this mean? Originally, this old couple has ten daughters, daughters are commonly known as "thousand gold", ten "thousand gold" is "ten thousand gold"; son-in-law in folklore is called "half son", ten "thousand gold" is "ten thousand gold"; son-in-law in folklore is called "half son". son-in-law in folklore is also called "half son", ten son-in-law is exactly "five sons". This is called a riddle.

There is a pair of very bold, "hanging will be a small sun and moon, shine through the big Qiankun". What does this say? This is surprisingly a couplet hanging in front of an eyeglass store.

Couplets generally have as many words as the top and bottom, but one is asymmetrical. When the bad guy Yuan Shikai died, the country celebrated. A man wrote a wonderful couplet: "Yuan Shikai is a thousand years old, long live the Chinese people". Someone reminded him, "Yuan Shikai is three words in the first couplet, and the Chinese people are four words in the second, it doesn't match!" He explained, "That's right, Yuan Shikai is sorry for the Chinese people!"

My favorite couplet is: "Stage small world, heaven and earth big stage". It is not only beautiful in form, but also philosophical.

The couplet is so interesting, I hope I can make such a good one too.
