Four meanings of loving the motherland

Patriotism is the minimum morality of citizens and the fine tradition of the Chinese nation. In traditional Confucian culture, the emphasis on "sacrificing one's life for righteousness" is to protect national interests and sovereignty, at the expense of one's own life. Patriotism is to some extent the need to ensure people's right to life freedom. Under the socialist system, the connotation of patriotism has changed qualitatively compared with the past. In feudal times, rulers emphasized people's patriotism, but the essence was to safeguard imperial power. People live in the country, but the country does not belong to the people. Under the socialist system, the people's democratic dictatorship is implemented, the state belongs to the people and the people are the masters of the country. In this way, citizens' patriotism actually means loving their own political power and defending their fundamental interests.
