I. Spring Festival
Spring Festival is the most important, grand and distinctive traditional festival in China. China people have celebrated the Spring Festival for more than 4,000 years. During the Spring Festival, the Han nationality and some ethnic minorities in China will hold various celebrations.
The main contents of these activities are offering sacrifices to ancestors, paying homage to ancestors, saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming the new year, and praying for a bumper harvest. The activities of the Spring Festival are rich and colorful, with strong national characteristics. Influenced by China culture, some countries and nationalities belonging to the Chinese character cultural circle also have the custom of Spring Festival.
Second, Lantern Festival.
Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, also known as Shangyuan Festival, is one of the traditional festivals in China, and it is also one of the traditional festivals in the Chinese character cultural circle and overseas Chinese. The traditional Lantern Festival in China began in the Qin Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago. Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty ordered the fifteenth day of the first month to be designated as the Lantern Festival.
Third, the Cold Food Festival.
The Cold Food Festival, also known as the Smoke-free Festival, the Cold Food Festival and the May 5th Festival, is held from summer to the next day 105, and one or two days before Tomb-Sweeping Day. Cold Food Festival is the only traditional festival of Han nationality named after food customs. Later, because cold food was close to Qingming, people combined cold food with Qingming before crossing Tomb-Sweeping Day.
Fourth, Tomb-Sweeping Day
Tomb-Sweeping Day, also known as the Walking Festival, is at the turn of mid-spring and late spring, that is, the first 108 day from winter to the future. It is a traditional festival in China, and it is also one of the most important festivals to worship ancestors and sweep graves. The traditional Tomb-Sweeping Day of the Han nationality in China began in the Zhou Dynasty and has a history of more than 2,500 years.
Influenced by the Han culture, 24 ethnic minorities in China, such as Manchu, Hezhe, Zhuang, Oroqen, Dong, Tujia, Miao, Yao, Li, Shui, Jing and Qiang, also have the customs of Tomb-Sweeping Day. Although customs vary from place to place, grave-sweeping and outing are the basic themes.
