The Influence of Internet Language on Traditional Culture

The Internet is presented in many forms such as words, sounds, pictures and images, but the most important thing is still words, so from the birth of the Internet, the Internet language has attracted people's attention. Network language includes computer language used for editing web pages and programming, terms related to network facilities and technology, special terms related to the network, words and symbols commonly used by people in chat rooms and BBS. The network language in this paper refers to the words and symbols commonly used by people in network chat rooms and BBS with obvious network background and their own characteristics. This kind of words and symbols, with fast generation speed and high usage frequency, are not only popular in the network in a unique way, but also have entered into the real life of newspapers, magazines, broadcasting and television, universities and schools in a dignified manner, and have become the favorite and even boasted fashion of many people, especially the young people, which has had a great influence on people's thoughts and behaviors as well as the traditional cultural concepts, and it is worthwhile to pay great attention to it. This paper discusses three aspects (etiquette and customs, ethics and morality, and language and writing) of Internet language that have a great influence on Chinese traditional culture, with a view to making Internet language play a positive role in the inheritance and promotion of Chinese excellent traditional culture.

I. The influence of Internet language on traditional Chinese etiquette

China is known as a "state of etiquette", and etiquette is present everywhere and at all times in traditional society. From the socio-cultural point of view, etiquette is the ceremony for communicating with heaven and man, the sign of aristocratic rank, the norms of the common people in the countryside, and the criterion for standing and living in the world. ②From the form of expression, the rites have different manifestations in the upper and lower levels of society, in the upper level of society manifested in the hierarchical aristocratic rites and laws system, in the grassroots level of society is manifested in the countryside commoner family rites and customs rules.

Traditional rites and customs are characterized by a distinctive equidistant nature. The so-called "equidistant", i.e., rank, difference, order between people. The Rituals - Sacrifice system" cloud: "the sacrifice has ten Lun, see ghosts and gods of the way, see the righteousness of the ruler and ministers, see the father and son of the Lun, see the nobility and inferiority of Yan, see the affinity of the kill Yan, see the reward of the implementation of Yan, see the couple of the difference, see the government of the equalization of Yan, see the order of the young and the order of the up and down of the occasion Yan." ③This kind of ten kinds of human relationships, such as ruler-subject-father-son, elder-younger-superior, etc., is the basic hierarchical relationship of the patriarchal society. The role of ritual lies in distinguishing and maintaining such hierarchical relationships, and its fundamental function lies in adjusting social relations in accordance with the principle of equality and difference, so that "the people do not move, the farmers do not change, the workers and the merchants remain unchanged, the scholars are not abused, the officials are not monstrous, and the great doctors do not receive public benefits", and thus achieve the purpose of stabilizing the social order.

Because of the traditional rituals and customs that over-emphasize the relationship of equivalence and focus on protecting the rights and interests of the honored, the elderly and the noble, the people at the bottom of the hierarchy or the relatively disadvantaged groups thus accumulate a kind of repressed mentality, whereby normal personalities do not dare to express themselves, the right ideas do not dare to express themselves, and the rightful interests do not dare to fight for them. However, from the point of view of the nature of human beings, they are always waiting for or seeking opportunities to show their personality, express their claims and realize their interests, and they will always take becoming a high-level or dominant group as a lifelong or stage-by-stage goal. But the competitive real world hardly gives such opportunities to people at the bottom or relatively disadvantaged groups. The emerging Web, however, generously offers such opportunities to groups exposed to it.

Cyberspace is a virtual world where netizens can disguise their identities, hide their ages, conceal their genders, change their language habits and communicate freely through the Internet with the help of a screen cover. Even if the object of communication is an official, he can "Slap" him; even if it is an elder, he can call him "BB" (child); even if it is an enemy, he can "Love Tiger Oil" (I love you); even if it is an enemy, he can "Love Tiger Oil" (I love you); even if it is an enemy, he can "Love Tiger Oil" (I love you). Even if he is an enemy, he can "love tiger oil" (I love you); even if he is a wife, he can treat her as a "BB" (lover); if he is a male, he can "marry" the male object of communication as a "wife", or even "wife" (I love you); and even "wife" (I love you). As a male, he can "take" the male subject of the exchange as his "wife" and even "marry, register, and give birth to children". In the exchange of ideas, there is no sense of justice between ruler and subject, no sense of father and son, no sense of superiority and inferiority, no sense of affinity, no sense of difference between husband and wife, no sense of order between the young and the old, and even less sense of honor and reward, and no sense of occasion between the upper and lower levels of the hierarchy.

There are many reasons for the emergence of this idea of releasing repression and pursuing equality. One is that people (especially young netizens) have not formed the necessary ritual order in their mindset. Secondly, the local aspects of society, the traditional order of manners and customs is too binding on people, and people suffer from having to accept, and so, come to the unrestrained network world, through the network language chat and communication to get the thrill of completely breaking through the bondage. Thirdly, although people understand the benefits of good traditional customs and regulations, they fail to consciously accept and comply with them due to the long-term bias of education and the driving force of the social environment.

People (especially young people) are not tired of the Internet because in the Internet, people can use the Internet language as they wish, and through the Internet language, they can release the heavy repression of reality and enjoy the equality that their hearts long for. Admittedly, this kind of venting and enjoyment in the virtual world is a rare psychological adjustment. However, this way of thinking and behavior, originally popular only in the network, has come to real life. Many young people use self-standard to evaluate elders or superiors, and do not respect elders or leaders who do not meet their self-standard; they use self-interested values to judge their decisions, and do not implement or negatively implement decisions that are unfavorable to them. This is a phenomenon of a serious lack of poor order, such as necessary etiquette, which, if not taken seriously and effectively corrected, can easily lead to the emergence of social disorder through the failure of orders and prohibitions.

In fact, the traditional order of etiquette and customs has its own aspects that can be inherited and carried forward. Between the elders and children in modern society, and between the upper and lower ranks at the management level, although they are equal in terms of personality, the elders and superiors should also humbly and seriously listen to the suggestions, opinions and even criticisms of their juniors or subordinates. However, due to their different positions, different perspectives, different responsibilities, and different experiences and abilities, generally speaking, the decisions of elders and superiors are relatively more correct, so we should respect them and implement their decisions seriously. The same applies to other aspects. In order to ensure social harmony, it is necessary to have the necessary rites and customs and other poor order.

So, from the point of view of the problems manifested by the Internet language in the traditional etiquette equivocation, we should not only adjust the traditional etiquette statutes which are too binding to people's thoughts and behaviors, but also make people consciously abide by the necessary order of traditional etiquette through appropriate education. Only in this way can our society exist and develop in an orderly and harmonious manner.

II. The Influence of Internet Language on Traditional Chinese Ethics

Traditional Chinese ethics is the summary of the moral practical experience of the Chinese nation, and is the national spirit that has gradually coalesced in the course of long-term social practice. Various philosophical schools of thought throughout history have had some influence on the formation of traditional ethical and moral norms, among which Confucianism has had the greatest impact.

Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, constructed the first complete system of ethical norms and formed a relatively systematic ethical and moral thought on the basis of his inheritance of ethical concepts from the Western Zhou period. The core of Confucius' ethical and moral thoughts are benevolence, righteousness and propriety, which can be regarded as the three cardinal virtues or the three mother virtues. ⑤ He also proposed such virtues as filial piety, fraternal duty, loyalty, respect, honor, sincerity, trust, rigidity, and uprightness, which further concretized the ethical norms among people. Mencius enriched and developed the ethical and moral thoughts of Confucianism, believing that "all people have the heart of intolerance", which is manifested in the four ends of the spectrum: "Compassion is the end of the human being; Shame is the end of the father; Resignation is the end of the rite; Right and Wrong is the end of the intellect". (7) The Four Virtues have been developed into the Four Morals of Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, and Wisdom. "The Four Virtues are the main categories of Mencius' ethical thinking, and they are the behavioral norms for dealing with the Five Relationships. During the Han Dynasty, Dong Zhongshu put forward the "Three Programs" of ethics, in which "the ruler is the program of the minister, the father is the program of the son, and the husband is the program of the woman," which clearly stipulated the relationship of honor and subordination between the ruler and the minister, the father and the son, and the husband and wife.

The system of ethical norms advocated by Confucianism has generally contributed to the formation and expansion of the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation. At the same time, traditional ethics have gradually developed into a value principle that the Chinese nation ****similarly honors. Under the action of such value principles, the Chinese nation has formed many beautiful virtues. These virtues, such as benevolence, filial piety and fraternal duty, emphasizing righteousness over profit, modesty and courtesy, sincerity and trustworthiness, and reverence for the sages, have not only provided great impetus for the development of the Chinese nation in the past, but will also play an important role in the future takeoff of the Chinese nation.

In the Internet, especially in the public **** bulletin board BBS, netizens are completely equal to each other, the identity consciousness is completely diluted, they can choose the object of communication according to their own preferences, they are free to expound their own ideas, refute the concepts of others, and even with the authority of the past to directly fight. What is expressed in the network language is the true inner feelings and the most genuine side of human nature that people are difficult to express in real life. ⑧Internet language constructs the communication mode of direct expression of true feelings in interpersonal communication in its unique way.

But with the rapid development of the network, traditional virtues are facing a serious test. The virtual nature of the network, the obscurity and the non-authenticity of the screen name, it is easy to make the communicator assured, relaxed and even unrestrained, which naturally led to the emergence of wanton indulgence, uncivilized and unethical network language. Some do not abide by the morality of the mouth, random abuse and personal attacks, disrupting the normal order of people's lives. Some of them deliberately make counter-intuitive remarks and express alternative character to make themselves valued by others, which is in obvious conflict with the behavioral norms of the real society. Some wantonly denigrate and unjustifiably slander ancient sages and sages who have been historically recognized, misleading young people's moral orientation. Some even foul language, profanity, the loss of a minimum of civilization, such as TMD (fuck), S## (psycho), K ick your ass (kick your PP), burst head (hit the head to blossom), 748 (go to hell), TNJJ (kick your JJ) and so on.

The fundamental reason for the non-moral phenomenon of network language performance lies in the moral quality of netizens. The moral quality of the netizens depends on the usual moral education, the effect of the usual moral education depends on the moral environment in which people live, the moral environment is good or bad in the performance of people's moral behavior, the performance of moral behavior is good or bad in the evaluation of the community on the moral behavior of the evaluation and trade-offs. The moral problems reflected in the language of the Internet show that the moral education we attach great importance to is not effective in practice. The non-moral phenomenon expressed in the Internet truly reflects the low-level moral quality of Internet users. The moral contrast between netizens in real life and the Internet world shows that there are problems in the moral environment of today's society, but also shows that netizens have accepted the real moral environment and are used to this kind of moral behavior that is different from what is on the surface. These phenomena are, in fact, a lack of morality, and what is particularly serious is that netizens and more people do not feel this lack of morality, and those who do feel it, tend to evade the responsibility of changing this phenomenon out of self-interest.

Therefore, we have to realize the importance and urgency of ethical and moral education from the non-moral phenomenon manifested in the network language, and we have to determine different educational contents for different targets, adopt different educational means, and supplement them with different educational measures, so as to make ethical and moral education truly effective.

Three, the network language on the impact of traditional Chinese language and writing

Language is the most important human communication tools and thinking tools, is a special social phenomenon, it has a greater solidity, but also with the development of society, communication needs and changes accordingly. ⑨ writing is used to record the symbols of language, in order to facilitate the need, people are always constantly pursuing its form of simplicity. People's pursuit of this, as well as the major changes in writing tools, from different sides, directly or indirectly affect the development and change of the written word. But the development and change of the text, not the product of the individual's subjective will and personal activities, but the development of society to a certain stage of history, with the text of a certain condition of change, through the collective conscious efforts of members of the community naturally contributed to.

After the emergence of the Internet, people's traditional ways of communication, especially writing tools, have changed dramatically, and the Internet language adapted to this mode of communication and writing tools has emerged. The influence of Internet language on traditional Chinese language and writing is unprecedented in the history of Chinese language and writing.

First, phonetics. Harmonized words are used to replace Chinese characters at will, such as using "Mei Mei" to refer to a younger sister, "Da Shrimp" to refer to a warrior (a master of the Internet), "Bamboo" to replace a moderator (a network administrator), and "Jam" to refer to a person who is not a member of the Internet community. "jam" instead of award, with "rice" instead of like, with "sauce purple" instead of this way, with "bamboo leaves "Bamboo Leaf" instead of "Home". Use "气死我乐" instead of 氣死我了, and "菌男" instead of 帥男.

Second, vocabulary. Internet language has the greatest impact on vocabulary. (1) Wrong word substitution, like "in - again", "this - with", "thick - roar", "mud call - nickname", "seem to l --seems", "fly often --very", etc. (2) Pinyin abbreviation, like "MM - sister", "GG - brother", "XDJM - brothers and sisters", "PMP - pat on the back", "JS - traitor", "BS - despise", "BT -- pervert", "BD -- fool", etc. (3) English abbreviations, like "GF - girlfriend", "BF - boyfriend", "LOL -- Laughing Out Loud", "PK -- Competition", "VG --Very Good very good", "PC machine -- personal computer", etc. (4) Harmonization of letters and numbers, such as "CU--See you (Goodbye)", "I Love U--I Love you (I love you)", "3X--Thanks (Thank you)", "9494--is Yes", "555555 - Cry", "7456 - I'm furious! ", "847 - don't be angry", etc. (5) Directly substitute English words, such as "乐一乐-Happy", "兴奋-High ", "So so", "Fans", "Animation", "Fans", "Fans", "Fans" and "Fans". ", "Flash" and so on. (6) Chinese and English phonetic translations, such as "Cool - Cool", "Love Tiger Oil - I Love you (I love you) ", "FANS--Fans, fans", "E-mail--Imeier ", "Show - Show", etc. (7) Transform the meanings of existing words, like "Dinosaur - ugly-looking MM", "Rookie - beginner level computer newcomer ", "marriage test - system testing, antivirus", "writing love letters - writing applications ", "Top - support", "Idol - object of vomit", "Genius - born stupid", "Enduring - watch with patience", "Kind - fickle and godless", "Virtuous - idle at home doing nothing", "Upstairs - the post above", etc. (8) Substitute words with dialect sounds, like "粉--很", "偶--我", "Wood oil - no", "speed Oh - is Oh", "get it done -something", etc.

Because of the chat, communication, the mood of the Internet users in a state of urgency, they mastered their own information input methods, without thinking to choose the computer's easiest to show the information, as an expression of the idea of the figurative to communicate. At the same time, chatting and communicating are in a specific context, and both parties can understand the meaning of the words they substitute at will, and over time, the use of word substitution has become their habit. Moreover, many netizens (especially young people), in order to show off their own selves and personalities, give play to their own wisdom, and deliberately innovate words. This kind of simple, casual, innovative network language just meets the psychological and behavioral needs of Internet users, coupled with frequent contact and use, network words have become the common words of Internet users.

However, most of the words and the methods of constructing new words do not conform to the law of new word generation in modern Chinese language, which not only creates certain difficulties for readers to recognize and read, but also makes people develop the bad habit of not standardizing the use of language and writing. Internet words are not only popular on the Internet, but also have spread to daily life, which should be taken seriously.

The rapid spread of Internet language has also had an impact on language education. Teenage students are the main group of Internet users, who are particularly sensitive to new things; and the simplicity, speed and image of Internet language are just right for teenage students who like to pursue novelty and fashion and covet convenience. They not only enjoy, spread and create network language online, but also apply network language into their compositions, diaries, essays and class wall posters. It is no exaggeration to say that Internet language has the greatest impact on primary and secondary school students, especially on the language and writing education of primary and secondary school students, which has a serious negative impact. Young students are at the stage of cultivating and improving their language ability, and their ability to identify the correctness and incorrectness of language and to appreciate the advantages and disadvantages of language is relatively low. Dealing with the Internet on a regular basis, they are very likely to develop the bad habit of using language in an unstandardized way, which interferes with and affects their normal language learning. In particular, the repeated use of misspelled words is simply disastrous to young students whose language is not yet solid. This problem especially deserves our great attention.

Internet language affects the improvement of students' language ability. Young students are constantly accumulating Chinese language and writing materials and improving their language skills through the study of a large number of articles with standardized language and beautiful writing. Most of the articles on the Internet are "posted" by netizens, and their language level is not high. Moreover, these articles are not edited by network editors, so there are a lot of typos, wrong sentences, and sick sentences all over the place. If young students often contact with the Internet, spend too much time "soak in the Internet", they are not yet solid language skills will not improve, but will be negatively affected by the interference.

Four Concluding Remarks

Language develops along with the development of society and is not subject to people's will. Internet language is an inevitable product of social development to a certain stage. The spirit of the times, which is the pursuit of equality, rich in innovation and respect for individuality, projected in the network language, is the development of the essence of traditional culture. The language features of simplicity and economy, convenience, image and intuition, humor and wit, rich in vitality and vigor promote the development of traditional language to a certain extent. (11)

We should take a positive and tolerant attitude towards Internet language, but we should not give it a free hand. We should establish timely regulations that are in line with the development of Internet language to guide and regulate the development of Internet language in a healthy direction, so that it can play a positive role in the inheritance and enhancement of the excellent traditional culture.
