What is the difference between a compound bow, a recurve bow, a straight draw bow and a traditional bow?
The most primitive is the straight draw bow, no matter the material, this kind of bow has a disadvantage, the bigger the draw, the bigger the force to continue to draw, the tension curve is always rising, that is, the force is not uniform. The advantage is that the structure is the simplest, how to pull it doesn't matter, the fastest arrow, the fastest arrow, the most sense of fulfillment in the shot.
The top and bottom ends of a recurve bow curve in the opposite direction of the main body of the bow, solving the shortcomings of a straight draw bow (more commonly called a bald bow), which has an even tension curve, you keep pulling with 50 pounds of tension all the time, and you can always deform, and finally release an arrow when you want to release it. The recurve is an improvement over the straight draw, with a smoother draw curve, but it's a little less fun due to being a little more complicated, as opposed to the bald bow.
The most advanced compound bows use eccentric wheels to save power, and the further back you draw, the less tension you need; a 60-pound bow with a 60% savings ratio (which is what I use) requires 60 pounds to draw, and only 24 pounds of tension to hold an aiming position, which makes aiming very easy. Of course there are higher force saving ratios out there, but a draw curve that is too curved is not a good thing, so let's leave that one alone for now.
First of all, the kinetic energy to shoot an arrow is given by the elastic potential energy of the bow, and the elastic potential energy of the bow is given by you pulling, the bow can't accelerate the arrow by itself. So for the bow, how to make you pull the bow to save energy and even force is the most important.
Recurve bows, compared to state-of-the-art compound bows, also reveal the drawbacks of not being able to save energy. A 40-pound bow requires 40 pounds of tension to draw, and 40 pounds of tension to keep the bow in the open position for aiming. The tension is not a problem, the problem is that the muscle groups of the back of the shoulder, that is, the muscles that control the shooting accuracy, once fatigue, the accuracy is reduced, so the accuracy of the recurve bow is slightly lower than the compound bow, especially not applicable to a long period of time aiming to grasp the timing of the hunting activities.
Because the compound bow has an eccentric wheel device, so its draw distance is fixed, and the strength of each arrow is also fixed, so the curve of the arrow can be accurately predicted, so that its accuracy rises further, the strength of the recurve and the bald bow is not the same for each arrow, and the curve of the arrow is either straight or curved, and the force is larger and higher than that of the compound bow, so it's even more inappropriate to aim at the top, and the force is smaller and lower than that of the compound bow.
But because the compound bow is the most complex bow, there are many parts, maintenance is a bit of a hassle, the sense of technology is there, for some afraid of trouble players a bit of fun is not enough. Most importantly, compared to the recurve and straight draw, the compound bow has the slowest shooting speed.
