How do you rate Osamu Dazai's unfinished legacy, GOODBYE? Has anyone ever bothered to renew it?

No one has ever written a sequel to Osamu Dazai's unfinished work 'Goodbye'.

A review of Goodbye can be gleaned from what the "unscrupulous writer" in the book says to the main character Tajima: "Do you have a death wish? Honestly, I'm worried about you. It's not a tragedy, but a comedy, to be infatuated with a woman and to seek death together. No, it should be considered a farce. It's funny to the extreme. No one will sympathize. You'd better put off the idea of seeking death." If the first voice comes from Osamu Dazai himself, the latter is his other self speaking to this self bent on death; the passage in Goodbye, in particular, seems to be a deliberate exhortation from Dazai to himself. To the reader, the greatest charm of Osamu Dazai's works lies in the writing of this kind of life shrouded in the shadow of death, or, rather, the mutual mirroring of business and death intentions. It can be attributed to what Naoharu says in "The Slanting Sun": "In the final analysis, there is probably no other way but to commit suicide, right? In spite of all the pain, it just ends in suicide." You can think of Osamu Dazai's final work, Goodbye, as the final act in the "debate between life and death." The novel is unfinished, but from the thirteen sections already written, it has a certain brightness rarely seen in Dazai's previous works, and the heroine, Kinako, is full of business and solidity, as if she is carrying forward Kazuko's "I want to survive" from "The Slanting Sun". Perhaps because he couldn't bear it, Dazaiji had to die, and he didn't even have time to finish his "Goodbye".
