Mocha coffee is one of the oldest coffees, and its history can be traced back to the origin of coffee. So how did Mocha Coffee get its name? This is related to Moka Port, the main commercial port on the Red Sea in the15th century, when Yemen monopolized the coffee export trade.
Mocha, a seaside town on the Red Sea in Yemen, monopolized the export trade of coffee in the15th century. At that time, coffee was mainly concentrated in Mocha Port and then exported to Africa. These coffees are collectively called mocha coffee. Later, although the emerging port replaced the status of Mocha port, the producing areas of exported coffee still existed during Mocha port period, and the coffee beans produced in these producing areas were still called Mocha coffee beans.
Mocha coffee is a mixture of one-third espresso and two-thirds whipped cream and milk, but a little chocolate is also added. Chocolate is usually added in the form of chocolate syrup, but some coffee sales systems will use instant chocolate powder instead. Sometimes whipped cream, cocoa powder and cotton candy are added to enhance the aroma and decoration of coffee.
Unlike cappuccino, mocha coffee has no fresh milk foam on it. Instead, mocha coffee is usually topped with whipped cream and cinnamon or cocoa powder. Sunflower candied powder can also be added to the surface as decoration to increase flavor.
One variety of mocha is white mocha coffee, which uses white chocolate instead of milk and dark chocolate. In addition to white mocha coffee, there are some varieties mixed with two kinds of chocolate syrup. Sometimes they are called "zebras" and sometimes they are called "tuxedo mocha" in a funny way.
Some European and Middle Eastern regions will use "mochaccino" to describe Italian latte with cocoa or chocolate, while in the United States, mochaccino refers to Italian cappuccino with chocolate. In Europe, "mocha coffee" may refer to this drink, or it may just refer to coffee brewed with mocha coffee beans.
Method for making mocha coffee
Ingredients: espresso 30 ml, chocolate sauce, fresh cream and milk.
Practice: Pour espresso and milk into the cup until it is 7 minutes full, squeeze in cream and pour in chocolate sauce.
