The development of the Beijing Rhythmic Drum has a history of more than a hundred years. Since the 1920s, actresses such as Liang Xiaolou, Zhang Cui Feng, Luo Yusheng, Sun Shuyun, Yan Qiuxia, and Xiaolanyun have sprung up on the stage of Jingyun, and they have expanded their singing and performance, which has made Jingyun Drums even more favored by the majority of the audience.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Beijing Rhythmic Drum got a great development. Artists have become the people's actors and artists, in addition to singing the traditional repertoire handed down, but also new and created a lot of new repertoire reflecting real life. For example, "Glorious Voyage", "Everest Red Flag", "Rapid Wave of the Heart", "Han Ying Seeing Mother", "White Nyonya Tells the Story" and so on.
