The Historical Origin of Miaoyanfang
During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a war dispute between Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangdong. Due to the hot and humid weather in the south, the soldiers were covered with pustules and could not be cured repeatedly. General Yan reported this matter to the court, and the court issued an urgent notice offering a reward for finding a good doctor who can cure this disease. From court doctors to folk doctors, there is nothing to be done. The pustules on the soldiers fester and the army is divided. In the hot summer, General Yan led his troops through a village in the deep mountains of Miao nationality in Guizhou. After a rest, an old Miao doctor in the village saw the pustules on the soldiers, so he collected wild Miao grass from the mountain according to the secret recipe of Miao, boiled it with ceramic pot, cooled it and coated it on the soldiers' affected areas. After simple dressing, the soldiers hurried on their way. Later, they found that the soldier's ulcer healed miraculously after three days of applying this soup. General Yan was overjoyed and rushed back to the village to find the old Miao people. Only then did he know that this soup was "Miao Fang Tang". This soup must be made by squeezing fresh weeds in Miao Mountain and then mixing them. The old doctor saved the whole army with a good prescription. General Yan used a saber to carve the word "Miaoyanfang" on the camphor tree as a voucher to thank the elderly in the future.
General Yan later enjoyed the imperial salary for life. After returning to the field, he worshipped Confucius, then moved to Qufu, Shandong Province (the hometown of Confucius) and settled down. General Yan recorded the formula of the Miao old man when he joined the army in his genealogy, telling him to pass it on from generation to generation to save the world. Miao Fang Tang was handed down from generation to generation by General Yan, and later renamed Miao Yan Fang, which is today's Miao Yan Fang, and was registered and protected by the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, becoming a popular anti-acne god.
