The origin of seal

Seal originated from practical symbols, which was produced in the early stage of the development of human civilization to meet the needs of social material production. With the continuous enrichment of material production, human beings have produced the concept of ownership, and thus invented the use of marks to mark the ownership of material products, that is, a hard object similar to graphics is used to press a fixed shape mark on the products made by themselves.

According to relics and historical records, seals appeared at least in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, and were widely used in the Warring States Period. At first, it was only used as a voucher for commodity exchange. After Qin Shihuang unified China, the scope of the seal was expanded to prove the rights and interests of those in power, and it was held by those in power as a tool for ruling the people.

During the Warring States Period, Su Qin, which advocated unity, wore the seals of the six countries. The cultural relics unearthed in recent years have pushed the history of seals forward for hundreds of years. In other words, seals existed in the Zhou Dynasty.
