Overview of Evolutionary Stability Strategies

Evolutionary game theory originated from Darwin's theory of biological evolution, at least since Lewentin (1960) was used to explain ecological phenomena. However, it was not until Maynard Smith, Maynard Smith, Price and Maynard Smith (1974) put forward the basic equilibrium concept of this theory-evolutionary stability strategy and Taylor and Joker put forward the basic dynamics concept of this theory-simulator dynamics that evolutionary game theory gained extensive attention in the theoretical circle. In particular, the international conference on the development of evolutionary game theory was held in Cornell University on 1992, which officially confirmed the academic position of evolutionary game theory in economics. Since then, the theory has developed rapidly and has been widely used in economics. More and more economists use evolutionary game theory to analyze the changes of social system; Axelrod (1984), industry development trend (Porter, 1980), stock market development direction; Lionel and Rolle, consumer's choice of brand, social learning process and the formation of social customs and other related issues. Evolutionary stability strategy is the most basic equilibrium concept in evolutionary game theory, which has been widely used and constantly improved in development.
