Until the modern times, the people of China used traditional tools, such as wire saws, discs made of steel and cooked iron, round wheels, drill presses, semi-circular discs, and lathes made of wood, to make jade. In the Neolithic and Bronze Ages before the invention of iron, most of the tools were even just made of wood and bamboo, bone and sandstone.
