The Historical Origin of Bijie Names

In February of the seventeenth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (AD 1384), Bijie Wei was founded, which was the beginning of Bijie's name. In the 26th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1687), Bijie Wei was established in Bijie County, which has been in use ever since. Bijie is a place name in Yi language, pronounced as "Biji" in Yi language, which is the name of a Yi patriarch.

"Bijie County Records" contains: Bijie is "Shunyuan Road and a place I don't want to learn. Pingchi is located in Chang 'an, which belongs to Hunan and is located in Bijie Post. At the beginning of the construction, it was on New Year's Eve, so it was called Bijie. This passage seems to be suspected of literal translation.

It is more appropriate to say in Yishu: "Bijie is called Bijie, which is the name of white snail. Because its place is Bijie, it has long been called Bijie ...
