Christmas Eve story
December 11, 1792, Joseph Mohr was born in Salzburg, Austria, as the illegitimate son of Anna Schoenberg, a weaver, and an infantryman from the local garrison, and his father fled out of fear. For the baptism, a Salzburg executioner named Josef Wolgemuth had to be hired as godfather.
Moore was kind-hearted and good for the weak, the poor and the children, but his unfortunate birth caused the young Moore to be continually driven away until 1815, when Moore took up a position as pastor of the small town of Oberndorf, near Salzburg, where he met Franz Kersaver Gruebel, an elementary school teacher and fair organizer from the neighboring town of Arnsdorf, at the fair there, and the two became good friends.
The Christmas song "Christmas Eve," a collaboration between Moll (lyrics) and Gruebel (music), was first sung in the town church of Oberndorf on Dec. 24, 1818, with a temporary guitar accompaniment due to the organ being chewed by rats.
By the way, "Christmas Eve" has been translated into almost all the languages of the world, the original lyrics were written in German, the first line is StilleNacht (Silent Night or Quiet Night), quiet or silent is still different from "peace", but the earliest as " Peaceful night" was the first word translated into Chinese.
