History of clay tile
Porcelain tiles were produced earlier than bricks. In the Western Zhou Dynasty, an independent pottery industry was formed. In the Western Han Dynasty, there was obvious progress in technology and the quality of tiles was greatly improved, because it was called "Qin Brick Han Tile".
The production process of clay tile is similar to that of clay brick, but it requires higher quality of clay, such as less impurities, high plasticity and high homogenization degree of clay. Clay tiles produced in China include small blue tiles, ridge tiles and flat tiles.
