What are the Flower Drum Plays?

Ancient painting drama is a local drama in China, and it is also the most local drama with the same name in China. Among many local operas called "ancient painting dramas", Hunan ancient painting dramas are the most widely spread and have the greatest influence. The typical representative repertoires of Hunan ancient painting drama "Liu Hai Pi Chai" and "Gong Bu Guo" are actually the repertoires of Changsha ancient painting drama representing Hunan ancient painting drama.

Hunan ancient painting drama is divided into six schools, Changsha ancient painting drama, Yueyang ancient painting drama, Hengyang ancient painting drama, Shaoyang ancient painting drama, Changde ancient painting drama and Lingling ancient painting drama, all of which have different artistic styles due to different popular areas. It is formed by the development of Hunan folk songs, from once ugly singing to "three small" singing.

There are more than 400 traditional plays and more than 300 musical tunes in various places. According to the different structure and musical style, it can be divided into four categories: Sichuan tune, Gong cavity, brand and minor, all of which have the characteristics of rough and bold and strong local color.

Although there are countless ties between different schools of ancient painting and drama in different places, the lines are different because of different popular areas, languages and customs. The biggest similarity of the six major operas of ancient painting is that their main accompaniment instruments are "ancient painting drums".
