Teachers' Day Customs in China

The earliest Teacher's Day in China is 193 1. At that time, well-known professors in the education field, such as Tai and Cheng Qibao, contacted the educators in Beijing and Shanghai, drew up June 6th as Teacher's Day every year, and published the Teacher's Day Declaration, proposing three major goals: improving teachers' treatment, ensuring teachers' work and improving teachers' self-cultivation. This Teacher's Day was not recognized by the national government at that time, but it had a certain influence in all parts of the country.

Since then, from 65438 to 0939, the Ministry of Education of the National Government decided to designate Confucius' birthday (August 27th) as Teacher's Day, and promulgated the Interim Measures for the Commemoration of Teacher's Day, but it was not implemented nationwide at that time.

195 1 year, the people of China, the Ministry of Education of China and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions * * * agreed to merge Teacher's Day and May Day International Labor Day into Teacher's Day in China. For various reasons, this festival has not actually gained popularity.

In order to carry forward the fine tradition of "respecting teachers and attaching importance to teaching" and improve teachers' status, the Ninth Session of the Sixth the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) officially passed the State Council's proposal on the establishment of Teachers' Day, and decided to designate September 10 as China Teachers' Day every year. When freshmen enter school at this time of year, setting up festivals to carry out activities of respecting teachers and attaching importance to education can create a good atmosphere for teachers and students to study hard and promote the formation of a good social trend of "respecting teachers and attaching importance to education, respecting knowledge and respecting talents" throughout the country. Since then, people's teachers have officially had their own festivals.
