What does it mean to catch yellow-footed chicken in Guangzhou dialect?

The saying "catching yellow-footed chickens" comes from the countryside of Guangdong Province. Local farmers only keep hens and not cocks, because hens can lay eggs and farmers can sell them. However, a rooster is needed when offering sacrifices. The way to catch a rooster is that farmers scatter millet outside the door first, and flocks of chickens will peck (Cantonese call the chicken's walking action "chicken feet"). When the hen pecks, the cock "has a colored heart", too lazy to eat millet, and jumps on the hen to mate. This is the best time to catch a rooster. When roosters mate, they are careless, and farmers scratch chicken feet. Because the cock's feet are deep egg yellow and the hen's feet are light yellow, it is easy to recognize.
