What is the "golden mean"?

The golden mean is the core idea of Confucianism and even the whole traditional culture of China, and it is the crystallization of the great wisdom of the Chinese nation for thousands of years. Based on the nature of destiny, self-cultivation, cultivation and teaching, it profoundly expounds the highest realm of life. The golden mean is the wisdom foundation of success or failure in life. It is sincerity, faithfulness outside, a gentleman is cautious about independence, a benevolent person loves others, a benevolent person is invincible, honesty is clear, honesty is clear, harmony is expensive, and the thoughts and theories in the golden mean are not abandoned.

Loyalty, forgiveness and tolerance are one of the main principles of the golden mean.

This principle requires us to care for each other, understand each other, love each other, do no harm to each other, be loyal and tolerant, act with benevolence and go hand in hand. The ideas advocated in The Doctrine of the Mean, such as justice, sincerity, self-examination, self-denial, hiding evil and promoting good, insisting on two ends, being harmonious without flowing, and doing things in an indifferent way, have extraordinary practical significance for people in modern society to cultivate their sentiments, enhance their realm, and establish their outlook on life, world outlook and values. The book says that sex should not be divorced from itself for a moment, be cautious and be afraid of hiding. If we achieve neutrality, everything in the world will be in its proper place and everything will grow and develop.

Tao originates from itself, divorced from self-nature, and a gentleman can only get Tao if he learns to seek for himself. A true gentleman should learn from things, get rid of the selfish interests of foreign temptations and fill his innate goodness. This quality of self-cultivation and self-reflection is necessary for our contemporary college students. No matter who you meet, what you encounter, no matter what setbacks you encounter in the future, you must learn to bite off more than you can chew, find reasons from yourself in everything, and learn from the qualities of Mencius in three provinces every day.

The golden mean is the highest ideological realm and mode advocated by Confucianism.

Medium, impartial, average, average. Neither excessive nor insufficient. The Doctrine of the Mean emphasizes that people can't leave the Doctrine of the Mean for a moment, but we should implement the Doctrine of the Mean and respect the nature of talent. Through the acquired study, the doctrine of the mean is called the nature of destiny, the nature of frankness is called Tao, and the nature of cultivation is called teaching. The essence of destiny means that human nature is endowed by heaven. Nature is called Tao, which means that following this nature is consistent with Tao and human nature is good.
