Difference between waxy millet and millet

Waxy millet and millet are two different kinds of rice, which are obviously different in appearance, taste and use:

Appearance:

Millet: Millet is a common common rice, which usually presents white or transparent particles, and its appearance is similar to that of traditional rice.

Waxy millet: Waxy millet is a special type of glutinous rice with small and round particles and translucent or pale white appearance.

Taste:

Millet: After cooked, millet usually has loose taste, separated grains and low viscosity, and is suitable for cooking rice, porridge and other dishes.

Waxy millet: waxy millet tastes very sticky. After cooking, the particles stick together and are not easy to separate. Suitable for making sticky foods such as glutinous rice, rice cakes and zongzi.

Use:

Xiaomi: Xiaomi is usually used to make traditional rice food such as rice, porridge and noodles.

Waxy millet: Waxy millet is mainly used to make glutinous rice, rice cakes, zongzi, dumplings and so on. Because of its viscosity, it is suitable for making sticky food.
