Characteristics of British feudalism

: (1) Indirect rule caused by layered package. In the Middle Ages, European countries generally implemented the "feudal system", which was a feudal system established with fiefs as a link. The first-class princes are only responsible to the monarch at the next higher level, and the concept of the country and the nation is weak. "In the Middle Ages, Europeans only knew which Lord they belonged to, and they didn't care if they were their compatriots-the monarch didn't care about national boundaries, and his subjects didn't care about nationality." (2) The weakness of kingship is in sharp contrast with the strength of feudal separatism. One of the best examples is the "golden imperial edict" promulgated by Emperor Charles IV of the Holy Roman Empire in 1356 (in office 1347- 1378), which stipulated that the emperor should be elected by the "Seven Emperors" and give up internal interference in the territory of the Emperors. At this point, the German emperor completely became a tool for big noble to tame, and this situation continued until the reunification of Germany. (3) The feudal countries in the Middle Ages not only did not have unified powers, but also did not have clear territorial standards. For example, in 1 154, Henry, Earl of Anjou, France, succeeded to the British throne, which formed a strange situation that the British king enjoyed territory in France and was both a king and a minister of a country. This paved the way for the protracted "Hundred Years War" between Britain and France (1337- 1453). The feudal system tore the society into countless pieces and could not form a joint force. To a great extent, it has hindered social stability and played a powerful role in resisting the further development of social economy.
