What are Germanic people?
The Germans are an ancient people of Europe, and as early as the 5th century B.C. they were distributed in the form of tribal groups in the Nordic region around the North and Baltic Seas. The ancient Romans called them the Germans. In terms of its historical development, it can be divided into two major clans, north and south. The northern branch developed in the Nordic region and became the ancestors of the present Swedes, Norwegians and Danes. The southern branch is subdivided into the eastern and western branches. The eastern branch included the Gomus, the Vandals, the Burgundians, and so on, and in the long history since then, the branch itself and its language have been assimilated into the peoples of the Mediterranean coast.
The western branch has since formed three regional groups: one is the North Sea coastal group, which includes the Batavians, Frisians, Cauquenes, Anglos and Gomus, etc., the first two later became the ancestors of the Dutch, the latter three fused into the Anglo-Saxons, which later went to the British Isles, developed into today's English; the second is the Rhine-Weser group, of which the Rhine-Weser group, of which the Vandals, the Burgundians, etc., the branch itself and its language were assimilated into the various peoples of the Mediterranean coast. -Weser group, of which the Cadets were the ancestors of the Hessians, and the other tribes fused into the Franks in the 3rd century A.D.; third, the Elbe group, of which the Sw. Bees later evolved into the Swabians, from whom the Habsburgs of Austria and the Hohenzollerns of Prussia originated. The Makomani and Quadi of this group eventually became the Bavarians.
By the 8th century A.D., except for the Anglo-Saxons in the British Isles, the entire western branch of the Germans were united in the Frankish Kingdom, and later gradually formed the present-day German nation. From this, it is easy to see that the formation of the German nation went through a long process of development. Today, although the old tribes in their original form have long since ceased to exist and have been replaced by federal states with the same names as the tribes, they have all inherited the tribal traditions in their own way and have preserved these traditions, dialects, and even tribal character traits in their own ways, as the division of Germany into small states has lasted for quite a long time in German history and has continued up to the present day. Thus, in Germany, the people are divided into Bavarians, Swabians, Rhinelanders, Hessians, Mecklenburgers, Saxons, Westphilians, and others.
People also have some fixed views on their character traits, for example, the Mecklenburgers are quiet, the Rhinelanders are bold and cheerful, the Westphalian people are old and prudent, the Swabians are frugal, the Saxons are industrious and resourceful, and so on. They not only have differences in character, that is, in the style of buildings and settlements, daily habits, clothing and recipes also retained their own outstanding characteristics. GERMAN directly translated is Germany, the other needless to say .
