What is syrup?

Syrup is a kind of sugar, also called caramel.

Maltose, also known as malt syrup or malt syrup, is a starch sugar product with the longest production history. Modern industry takes high-quality corn starch as raw material. Starch sugar products with maltose content between high maltose syrup and maltodextrin were prepared by liquefaction, saccharification, refining and concentration of enzyme preparation. Maltose is mainly used for processing caramel sauce color and candy, fruit juice beverage, wine making, canned food, bean paste, soy sauce and so on.

Later, starch was gradually used instead of rice to produce maltose, and refined maltose was produced by decolorization with activated carbon in Dazheng era. In the future, the acid saccharification method was developed in Europe and America to produce maltose, and its flavor and heat resistance (boiling temperature) were better than that of malt method. There is also a kind of powdery maltose production in Japan. The technological method is to dehydrate maltose into powder by spray drying.

Matters needing attention in storing syrup

1. The container for storing syrup must be clean.

Before use, the container must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to ensure no bacteria or dirt.

2. Choose a suitable container to store syrup.

It is best to use a glass or plastic container with a sealed cover, which can prevent the syrup from getting wet or being polluted by the outside world.

3. The environment for storing syrup should be dry, cool and dark.

Humid environment will cause the syrup to agglomerate, while high temperature and sunlight will make the syrup deteriorate. Therefore, it is best to store the syrup in a dry place and avoid direct sunlight.

4. It is necessary to regularly check the storage conditions of syrup.

If the bottle seal is damaged or the syrup is abnormal, measures should be taken immediately, such as replacing the container or making necessary treatment.

5. Mark the stored syrup correctly.

Marking the type, production date and storage date of syrup on the container is helpful to understand the service life of syrup and deal with expired syrup in time.
