How to practice Ip Man's Wing Chun

Ip Man's Wing Chun is practiced as follows:

1 The centerline theory is the basis of the basic open stance of Wing Chun. In the open stance, stand facing forward with knees bent and feet slightly flared outward. Face the enemy head-on and attack with the most balanced force.

2 An important principle of Wing Chun is that in sparring, "no force", i.e. the force should be moderate. It is important to use the opponent's strength by deflecting the center of gravity and directing the strike.

3 Keep your body relaxed. If the body is tense, it will consume more unnecessary energy. So keep your body in a relaxed state so that you feel more comfortable.

4 In Wing Chun, a fighter interrupts an opponent's attack (interception) by reacting quickly and changing the response to his conditions.

5 Adapt the fighting strategy to the opponent and the environment. The opponent may be tall or short, strong or thin, male or female. The fighting environment may also be different, it may be outdoors or indoors, in the rain, very hot or very cold, and so on. So be prepared to always adjust your fighting form to the environment you are in.

Wing Chun is a form of kung fu that emphasizes close-range fighting, where quick punches and tight defense are used to defeat an opponent. This traditional Chinese martial art uses both offense and defense to defeat an opponent by using quick-moving footwork to leverage power. It is a simple yet ever-changing form of kung fu that often requires long-term practice in order to master the essence of real combat.
