What is the origin of Wing Chun Boxing?
There are two theories about the origin of Wing Chun Boxing, namely, "Five Divisions Founding Theory" and "Yongchun County Theory in Fujian".
Practice boxing
The theory of "Five Teachers" is the most popular Wing Chun boxing theory, and a large number of film and television dramas are based on this theory. Legend has it that Master Wu Mei is a disciple of South Shaolin. Due to the betrayal of traitors, South Shaolin was burned by the Qing court. After the five masters escaped from the encirclement, they felt that Shaolin traitors were rampant and wanted to create a martial art to restrain Shaolin boxing, so they created this martial art and later passed it on to their only disciple Yan Yongchun. Later, Yan married a businessman, and Liang Sui learned this kind of martial arts. At that time, this martial art had no name. Later, someone asked Liang what it was, and Liang named it Wing Chun Quan after his wife. Another way of saying it is that Wing Chun Boxing should be Wing Chun Boxing, named after Wing Chun Hall of Shaolin Temple in Quanzhou, Fujian. It is a southern family boxing method for people who entered the temple that year, and its full name is Shaolin Yongchun. The reason why some people in later generations think wing chun boxing is a female boxing is mainly because of the first statement. But in fact, these two statements are not reliable. The so-called thing that the Qing court burned South Shaolin has never happened. So far, no credible evidence has been found about the legend of the five ancestors of South Shaolin. So the origin of Wing Chun Quan is still a mystery. In fact, it was not until the late Qing Dynasty that this kind of boxing was publicly taught. Liang Zan, a grandmaster of Ye Wen, was the first martial artist to openly teach Wing Chun Quan. Another reason why Wing Chun Quan is a female boxing is that the action of Wing Chun Quan is not stretched enough, with a little feminine twist. Its basic action is especially obvious, which is different from the flat horse step or straight pile step of other boxing types, and it is a leg-clamping action. Legend has it that Yan Yongchun tied a clamp horse for her husband on their wedding night, and Liang Bo broke his leg with all his strength. Many people think that this action is very similar to the anti-wolf action designed for women. But this is not necessarily the case. Although there is no detailed historical data about the spread of Wing Chun Boxing before the Liang Zan era, there is no objection that Wing Chun Boxing has been spread in Guangdong Red Boat Troupe for a long time. These troupes use the complicated water network in the south to perform, which is an ideal hiding place for anti-Qing righteous people. According to textual research, there is indeed a sign of "wooden man pile" on the red boat. In addition, Wing Chun's unique equipment routine "6: 30 stick method" uses a long stick that is much longer than the Qi Mei stick in traditional martial arts. It is more than one foot and three feet long, which proves that it is a weapon evolved from bamboo poles used for punting on red boats. It can be seen that Wing Chun Boxing is a martial art that has been circulating on the ship for a long time, which can explain its posture of internal buckle in the station. In a rickety boat, the footwall is unstable if you use the flat horse step or full-length pile step commonly used on land. On the contrary, the pliers with internal buckle are the most stable. Wing Chun Boxing is also a short-distance short assault, which fully conforms to the geographical characteristics of narrow space and drifting of water boats. Wing Chun Boxing is the most suitable martial art for self-defense of the anti-Qing Rightists lurking on the red boat. Wing Chun Boxing is not included in the national standard routine now, but it ranks second in China (first in Tai Ji Chuan) with more than 2 million practitioners worldwide. In fact, 50 years ago, it was estimated that the number of Wing Chun practitioners in China would not exceed 100. There are three people who can develop to this point. IP Man
After 49 years, IP Man broke the tradition that Wing Chun was not easy to teach in Hong Kong and began to teach Wing Chun openly. His disciples were all over Kowloon, including Bruce Lee, an international movie star, and Huang, his eldest disciple, who later became the master of Stephen Chow and other movie stars. It can be said that many stars in Hong Kong entertainment circle have studied Wing Chun. Bruce Lee
Due to the worldwide influence of Wing Chun Boxing, many young people formally follow Li's footsteps and worship Wing Chun Boxing. Ting Liang
Ip Man's closed disciple, in order to better spread this martial art, Liang Ting standardized and segmented Wing Chun Boxing after Japanese and Korean martial arts, and even designed his own uniform. Without this work, it is difficult for Wing Chun Quan to cultivate a large number of coaches with teaching qualifications all over the world in a short time.
