How to make a flute

Flute practice:

1, selection of materials. Choose the bamboo suitable for making flute, generally bitter bamboo is the main.

2, air-drying. Freshly looked down bamboo is usually air-dried for a few years.

3. Tuning. Choose the inner diameter suitable for the corresponding tuning of the flute.

4, set the hole. According to the data of the inner and outer diameters, the blowhole and each tone hole are set.

5. Open the holes. Punch the holes according to the set distance.

6.Tuning. Fine-tune the pitch of each hole.

7. Lacquer. Polishing and lacquering the flute to protect it from moths.

8.Tying. Avoid the flute from drying and cracking.

The flute is the oldest Han Chinese musical instrument found so far, and it is also the most representative of the Han Chinese musical instruments with the most national characteristics of the wind instrument. One of the commonly used horizontal woodwind instruments in traditional Chinese music, the Chinese bamboo flute, is generally categorized into the southern qu flute, the northern bang flute, and the alto flute in between. The range can generally reach two octaves more than two.

The flute is often used in Chinese folk music, opera, Chinese folk orchestra, Western symphony orchestra and modern music. In folk orchestras, the flute is a pivotal wind instrument and is treated as a representative of folk wind music.

Most flutes are made of bamboo, but there are also stone flutes, jade flutes and flutes made of mahogany, and bone flutes in ancient times. However, the best raw material for making flutes is still bamboo, because bamboo flutes have a better sound effect and are cheaper to make.
