Acupuncture was fully developed in Qin and Han Dynasties. 1in the spring of 993, a black repainted wooden figure was unearthed in the back room of No.2 Guo Mu's tomb excavated in Shuangbaoshan, Yongxing Town, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. There are some straight-line paths of acupuncture meridians on it, but there are no signs of words and acupoints. Only red paint lines are used to represent these paths, which are particularly clear under the color of wood. This is the world's earliest wooden mannequin marked with the direction of meridians. Later, the silk script Meridian Liuzhu was unearthed from Mawangdui No.3 tomb in Changsha. The book discusses the circulation of eleven meridians, main diseases and ancient moxibustion classics of moxibustion. This is also an ancient document about medical meridians. In addition, there is Huangdi Neijing, a treasure house of China medicine, which is a valuable experience summary of many physicians in the Spring and Autumn Period, the Warring States Period and the Western Han Dynasty, and has accumulated medical achievements in various times. Among them, nine different needles are introduced, which can be divided into large needles, long needles, thin needles, round needles and front needles according to their uses. The length of each needle varies from 3 cm to 24 cm. There are 365 acupoints in the book to treat various diseases and ways, and one of them is named. It is pointed out in the book that although lily is expensive, it is particularly effective in treating some diseases because of its physical function. Silver needle has obvious sedative effect. Four gold needles and five silver needles were unearthed from Liu Sheng's tomb in Zhongshan, Hebei Province. There are gold needle, front needle and silver round needle that can be identified, but some of them are broken, so it is impossible to identify the needle type.
Although the emperor creatively implemented various medical methods in Huangdi Neijing. However, there are many emperors in China who are interested in physiology, especially the nervous system. For example, it is said that in the 1 th century, with the help of doctors and royal butchers, Wang Mang cut open the body of an enemy and studied the human nervous system with bamboo sticks. Coincidentally, 1000 years later, Song Huizong hired a painter to draw the human organs of an dissected criminal. Before Hui Zong, Song Renzong asked craftsmen to build a bronze man to show the whole nervous system of the human body. This bronze man is also used as a guide for students studying acupuncture in medical college. According to records, all students in the acupuncture department must first apply wax to the outside of the bronze man and pour water into the body. Candidates are required to have injections at designated acupoints. If the injections are accurate, the wax will break the water, otherwise there will be no water, which has become a good means to test students. Song Renzong was once in a coma due to illness, and the doctors could do nothing about it. Finally, he had to find a folk doctor for acupuncture. The doctor stuck a needle into an unknown acupoint behind Renzong's head. As soon as the needle came out, Song Renzong woke up, opened his eyes and praised again and again: "Good job!" Praise medical skill, "Xing Xue" at that time meant "Xing Xue", hence the name "Xing Xue". There are many examples of this innovation in ancient books. Acupuncture can treat general paralysis, dystocia of women, infantile umbilical wind, abdominal pain, heartburn, headache, rheumatism, facial features and other diseases, and even come back to life.
The invention of acupuncture is the contribution of ancient China people to world medicine, but why it has so many functions needs further study.
