These are two stories that have influenced Chinese history for a long time (and it's interesting to note that they look a bit like the fantasy novels that are all the rage nowadays):

Story 1: The Fantastic Life of Yuan Weifan

There was a Mr. Weifan in the Ming Dynasty, and when he was a young man, he was in a difficult situation, and his mother hoped that he would go to school to study medicine to make a living, but then he came across an old Taoist priest surnamed Kong, who used his book, "Emperor's Pole Counting" to calculate his past. However, he suddenly met an old Taoist named Kong who used the "Emperor's Ultimate Numbers" to predict his past encounters, and he was able to predict even the smallest things. According to Mr. Kong, he was a man of merit and would surely win in the examination, so he went to study.

Mr. Kung also counted the future for him: 14th place in the county examination for children, 71st place in the government examination, and 9th place in the examination for the school of mention!

When Yuan Dafan went to take the exam the next year, the rankings in the three places turned out to match exactly.
