Are Father's Day and Mother's Day traditional festivals in China or imported ones?

Father's Day and Mother's Day are not traditional festivals in China, but spread from western countries to China. China officials did not stipulate the third Sunday in June as Father's Day, nor did they stipulate the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. From the traditional culture of China, Father's Day in China should be Dragon Boat Festival, and Mother's Day in China should be Mid-Autumn Festival.

In modern times, that is, in the thirty-fourth year of the Republic of China (Gregorian calendar1August 8, 945), the Shanghai Academy of Scholars launched an activity to celebrate Father's Day, and the citizens immediately responded and held a warm celebration. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, people from all walks of life in Shanghai jointly requested the Shanghai Municipal Government to hand it over to the Nanjing Central Government, and designated August 8 as Father's Day.

In fact, this provision of the Republic of China is more in line with the culture of China, because the homonym of Chinese characters in China was added, and on August 8, the two eights overlapped and deformed into "father".

As a festival to thank mothers, Mother's Day first appeared in ancient Greece, and later appeared in the United States, Canada and other countries. It is usually the second Sunday in May every year, and the dates in other countries are different. Mothers usually receive gifts on this day. Carnation is considered as a flower dedicated to mother. The mother flower of our country is day lily, also called worry-free girl.
