8.1 Army Day

August 1 is the anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), designated as the first day of August every year, and was established by the People's Revolutionary Military Committee of the People's Republic of China (PRC) as a holiday to commemorate the founding of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army (REDA).
