How is the development and spread of Buddhism in China reflected in architecture?

One of the characteristics of Buddhism is that it is light on the material and heavy on the spiritual, the so-called "four great things are empty", therefore, after the introduction of Indian Buddhism to China, the form of its Buddhist monasteries immediately combined with the traditional architectural form of China, and the Buddhist culture and the Chinese culture were tightly fused together. Starting from the early Baima Temple in Luoyang, the subsequent Chinese Buddhist monasteries followed this path. During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, regardless of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Buddhism developed at a rather alarming rate. Du Mu wrote a poem, "Four hundred and eighty temples in the Southern Dynasties, how many buildings in the smoky rain." At that time, only in Jiankang, the number of monasteries was more than 500. In fact, there were even more monasteries in the Northern Dynasties. According to statistics, the total number of monasteries in Luoyang and its vicinity in the Northern Wei Dynasty amounted to more than 1,300. During the Sui and Tang dynasties, Buddhism continued to develop and established a system of Chineseization. Several Buddhist theorists began to interpret and comment on Buddhist scriptures, and thus schools and sects of Chinese Buddhism began to appear.
