Why do black-and-white hats say "good luck at first sight" and "making money at first sight"?

Seven lords and eight lords are two subordinates of the city god. Because they rank behind the second judge and the fourth master, they are generally called "seven masters and eight masters". They attach great importance to feelings and righteousness, which is quite famous in many folk stories in China.

Seven lords and eight lords are also called long lords and short lords or high lords and short lords, and there is the black-and-white impermanence that is most often heard. One writes "good luck at first sight" and the other writes "making money at first sight", which is actually the opposite. People who see them are usually unlucky, and evildoers stay away from them.

The seventh main surname is Bi 'an, also known as Bai impermanence. White face, wearing a white robe, about 14 feet tall, with a long tongue. Eight master surnamed fan, also known as black impermanence, has a dark face, is short, only five feet tall and has an open mouth. According to legend, the Seventh Master and the Eighth Master are from Min County, Fujian Province, China, and they were very good friends when they were alive. One day, they met under Nantai Bridge. Suddenly, dark clouds were gathering. The seventh master told the eighth master to wait for a while, and he went back to get the umbrella first. Unexpectedly, when the seventh master went back to get his umbrella, the stream soared, and the eighth master refused to stand up and waited under the bridge. The water flooded higher and higher, and Master Eight drowned because of his short stature. Seven masters came back and found eight masters drowned. Seeing that Eight Masters died so faithfully for themselves, Seven Masters was quite sad. Seven lords want to follow eight lords.

Because Grandpa Eight hated Grandpa Seven for not coming to the appointment when he died, his face is black now. Then, because he drowned, his mouth was open and Grandpa Seven hanged himself, so his tongue is always long.

After the death of the seven lords and eight lords, the Emperor of Heaven knew that the two of them were so congenial, so he sent them to the Lord God as his subordinates to help him catch people. Legend has it that if people who see or dream of the Seventh Master kneel down to thank their blessings, they will have good luck or be promoted to a higher position. Therefore, they are called "Sebian with good luck at first sight". People who meet the Eighth Master are not good, and there will be disaster or death. Therefore, they are called "Fan (criminals) hopeless".
