The Moral of Fat Swallow Kite
The Fat Swallow is the most classic image of the Swallow kite, and it is the longest circulating and most recognizable style in the Swallow family.
The most common style is the black wings against the white feathers and belly, while the wings and tail are painted with several bats, peaches and other patterns, the Fat Swallow represents the image of an adult man. The body of the fat swallow is broader and thicker, indicating that a man should have a majestic and expansive demeanor. The eyes are bigger than those of other types of swallows, and they look ahead, showing firm confidence.
The overall shape of the decoration below the eyes from the white part to the tail wing is like a bottle, which emphasizes the man's broad-mindedness and the spirit of "having a big belly that can accommodate all the world's affairs", which is in line with the motto of the kite making, "The jaw is like a full bow bearing the cheeks, and the chest is like a silver bottle with a high degree of temperament. The power of the kite is in the hands of the kite maker, and the elbow roots and the armpit plumes must be connected with each other". The seven bats on the wings and tail needless to say, since ancient times in China, there is a "bat to" that is "blessed" saying, the chest peach is also a symbol of longevity agreed upon.
The most special and not easily noticed point is that in the center of the Fat Swallow kite, the two paws of the swallow are in the shape of a symmetrical three-petal vortex, and the swallow's paw is in the dynamic of half-holding, simulating a human hand, which is symbolic of a grown man's vigilance, a state of being ready to strike at any time in the face of danger, which implicitly expresses the grown man's sense of strength and desire to protect, and is an interesting iconography of the Fat Swallow kite. This is an interesting iconographic interpretation of the image of Fat Yan.
