After the independence of the brand, it will be listed as one of the two major independent brands of GAC Group with GAC Chuanqi.
A stone has stirred up a thousand waves. Behind the independence of GAC EAN is also the continuous increase of GAC in the field of new energy. Obviously, the traditional powerhouse like GAC has long been unwilling to car-making new forces in the domestic new energy market to lead the way.
Guangzhou EAN upgrade
Public information shows that Guangzhou Automobile New Energy Automobile Co. The company's business scope includes: charging pile sales; new energy vehicle-related technical services; new energy vehicle-related technology transfer services; new energy vehicle-related technical consulting services; intelligent connected vehicle-related technology research, technology development services and so on.

GAC's new energy battlefield
Why is it necessary to make the EAN brand independent from GAC New Energy? From the most intuitive point of view, with the growing sales of the EA series, it already has the capital to separate GAC Chuanqi.
In September this year, GAC's cumulative sales reached 31,119 units, up 4.71 percent year-on-year. In terms of sales alone, the EA is one-fifth the size of the BAIC. Considering that Tesla's September sales were just over 10,000 units, and Azera's September sales were just 4,708 units, EAN's performance has been quite strong.
In addition, data from the Crew Federation showed that aion?s cumulative sales in the first nine months were 30,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 113.7 percent, ranking second only to Tesla in terms of new energy vehicle sales. Against the backdrop of growing sales, aion?s independence is also conducive to obtaining more resource support from within BAIC.
From a deeper perspective, GAC's choice to make EA independent also means that it is increasing its commitment to the new energy business. Although there are still some technical problems in the range, safety and other aspects, but the new energy vehicles is undoubtedly the future of the automotive industry's biggest wind direction. After 3 years of testing the waters, EAN has proven itself trustworthy with good market performance. Take Beijing as an example, this year, the monthly sales volume of EAN has basically stabilized in the top three. In the traditional fuel car field, GAC has become one of the main trump cards of GAC, and in the new energy field, it naturally needs another loud business card.
In addition, from the point of view of capital operation, the independence of GAC EA is also conducive to the future operation of the GAC Group will be listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board or the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) to raise funds. After all, GAC New Energy's banner also includes some new energy models from GAC Chuanqi. After independence, EAN and Chuanqi brand cutting, can also get its own valuation increase. Ean will take the place of GAC Azera
However, in the opinion of the car enthusiasts' headline, once the Ean brand becomes independent, it will also need to solve the competition problem with GAC Azera.
As we all know, Guangzhou Automobile Azure was established in April 2018, by the Guangzhou Automobile Group, Guangzhou Automobile New Energy, Azure Fund, Azure Automobile, and the founding team, employees **** with the same shareholding. Originally, in the outside world, with the combined strength of Li Bin's team and GAC Group, Guangzhou Azure will become a force in the field of new energy, but with the Azure China headquarters in Anhui, Guangzhou Azure is obviously no longer the focus of Li Bin's team.
As things stand now, Guangzhou Azure's position is actually quite awkward. Under the banner of not relying on hardware to make money, Guangzhou Azure currently has only one model on the market, and its sales are far worse than those of EAN. Now, after EAN becomes independent, the GAC Group will surely tilt its resources towards EAN, so is there still a value for GAC Azure to exist?
Additionally, from the perspective of the original positioning, GAC Azera focuses on the mid-range and high-end market and tries to stay close to Azera's route, while EAN focuses on cost-effectiveness and is set for the mid-range and low-end market. However, with the independence of EAN, it is bound to further expand its product line, and in the future there will be different products launched from low-end to high-end. In such a situation, how can Guangzhou Azera handle itself?
